About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We are traveling the world interviewing and filming peacemakers! Please check out our website!

ABOUT ME

I love to meet new people, to have adventures, to make a difference in the world. Right now I am working with my husband and a friend to make a documentary film and art project called 24 Peaces. We are traveling to points around the globe in 2010 and 2011, conducting and filming a series of twenty-four interviews with both preeminent peacemakers and a cross section of “every-day people” from diverse backgrounds and cultures around the world.

When we're home we eat dinner with our neighbors most nights, in both Los Angeles or Montana. In Los Angeles I started a monthly neighborhood potluck with my favorite neighbor. It is at a different person's house each month. It has been a huge success.

PHILOSOPHY

My principal philosophy is to live my life with love, honesty, creativity, integrity, courage, joy and freedom.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to be able to meet and stay with interesting people during our trips. There are three of us. Myself, my husband Ron and our friend and the creator of our project, Gene Jimenez. When we are home from our trips we will spend our time in either Los Angeles or Montana. We are restoring a 100 year old farmhouse in MT. We have a couch in LA and an extra bedroom in MT. We would love to host and meet new people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is not through CS but I was traveling with my mom and a friend. We came off a ferry from Greece and were getting onto a bus at 2am in Leche Italy to go to Rome. I turned around to make sure my mom was getting on the bus behind me and she was hugging a complete stranger(to me.) It turned out she was a friend my mom had been looking for and she invited us to stay at her boyfriends house. It turned out the house belonged to a bunch of guys. It was their playhouse. We spent 3 fun days there laughing and exploring and making new friends.

OK one more story. My mom drove from Mexico to Los Angeles to visit me. She drives like a mad woman and arrived a day early. I had my phone off for that day. She camped on the couch of a neighbor neither she or I knew. A year later I was working on a job and got to be friends with a woman also working there. We realized that she was the woman who's couch my mom had camped on!

Music, Movies, and Books

Sadly my musical taste is dated. I love when someone else takes control of my iPod or introduces me to new music. The last book I really read was Eat, Pray, Love. I just started The girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I like mostly Indie films and foreign films. I recently saw and liked Cyrus. Shawshank Redemption is an old favorite. Just saw and liked a Danish film called "After the Wedding."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Blue whales. My husband and I belong to a cooperative sailing club. We had been sailing for a few days and we heard something blow next to the boat between Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands. We watched and a blue whale came up on the other side of the boat, maybe 20 feet from us! It was like seeing a bus surface, only bigger. We tried to follow it but it moved so fast. And we saw two more spout off in the distance. It was magic! We also saw dolphins swimming in the phosphorescence one night. Like giant glowing torpedos shooting through the ocean! Also magic!

Teach, Learn, Share

OK I'm sure everyone knew this but me. I JUST learned that if you lean the back wheel of your bicycle up against anything stationary your bike will stay standing. No kick stand needed.
