About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Devenir immortel, et puis mourir

I was born an orphan in the middle of the Gobi desert, and had to learn to ride a unicycle to get between the one-room school house where I studied Calculus, and my job in the dark, gritty banana mines. At the age of 9, I taught myself carpentry, and I built a fully functional hang-glider which I used to escape my life of poverty. After a brief stint as the composer in residence at one of south-central Jefferson County's most prestigious opera houses, my musical ambitions were set back after clear violations of child labour laws prompted my dismissal. Furious, I set out to the high seas; after several months, my ship ran aground on the shore of a rocky island in Lake Huron. There, our crew was forced to survive on a nearly barren island, but we managed to establish a very complex, egalitarian social structure which thrived for several years until the introduction of turkey pox by a local yacht club nearly wiped out our thriving commune.

I have continued wandering ever since...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The essence of travel is encountering the unfamiliar, learning about and from others, and in so doing, better understanding your self.

Other forms of travel just don't allow that to happen.

Music, Movies, and Books

Like everyone else in our post-modern, globalised world, my tastes are 'eclectic'. But I'm a sucker for conscious hip-hop, satirical novels, and comedy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It feels a bit conceited to describe something I've done as 'amazing.' But I did once give a speech in Russian that I'd only been given 20 minutes to prepare.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to cook, so that's always a possibility.
