About Me

*I've been getting a lot of generic requests lately just stating that someone needs a place to stay. Tell me WHY you want to stay with ME. Couchsurfing is about the experience of meeting new people and sharing your culture. I hate that I need to say this, but if you send me a copy-and-pasted request, your answer will be no!*

CURRENT MISSION

"I want to taste the breeze of every great city"

ABOUT ME

I want to explore EVERYTHING.

I have a passion for working with children with special needs. I am currently studying to be a Speech Language Pathologist, and work part-time at a school with children with multiple disabilities.

Adequately describing myself is really difficult. I'll make an effort to fill in this section with something better someday, but for now maybe my references can give you a little insight?

PHILOSOPHY

All the world is a stage .. DIVE!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

October 2010: I am relatively new to couchsurfing. I tried it for the first time in October 2010, for 3 nights with Leness in Dublin and for 2 nights in Cork with Paul & Charline. Both were incredible experiences and I can't wait to have more! (and hopefully host if I ever go home!)

Jan 2011 : I have since had many really great CS experiences all throughout France. I really can't wait to host when I return to the US so I can try and redistribute all of the warm hospitality I have received :-)

April 2011 : I had many more unforgettable experiences in France and Germany (from an unexpected punk festival with Britt near Gütersloh to exploring an abandoned amusement park with Johanna and Brenda in Berlin, how could I go wrong?). I am very eager to host, even though I'm not living in the most convenient location. Hopefully this will change soon?

November 2011: My rooommates and I had the delight of hosting our first couchsurfer here in Toronto when Myriam (from France) came to stay with us! We're excited to host s'more :)

Interests

I enjoy good conversations with good people. I play guitar, sometimes piano or ukulele. I like long walks, usually with headphones in my ears to keep me company. I love exploring, especially unusual or out of the ordinary places. Urban exploration. I love writing, which I usually do much more of when traveling. Coffee. Putting anything/everything into pancakes. Basements (especially when there are bands playing in them). Rooftops. The woods. The sea. Swings and trampolines. Sledding and snowball fights. Garage sales. Riding bikes. Knitting things that sometimes turn out OK. Gluing celebrity heads on different bodies to make new characters for The Cosby Show. Pretending I am Alexa Vega. The word phantasmagoria. ETC.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't watch too many movies (not to say I don't enjoy them). I listen to all sorts of music-- lately some folk and also some punk/hardcore, but some indie and even country can be thrown in. I listen to what I like, whether that's some obscure underground band or the pop song on the radio. Check my last.fm if you want to see more of what I'm into. As for books-- lately I've been getting into Hemingway and quite enjoying it. I also like Bret Easton Ellis, even though he makes the world seem a little empty. I don't have much time to read while at home, but while traveling I'll be bringing along many books on my "to read" shelf. I also love book recommendations! :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitching to South Point on the Big Island in Hawaii and following a random drunk guy's advice to trek on for miles and miles through what seemed to be nothing, only to happen upon a spontaneous rainbow gathering miles out...

Teach, Learn, Share

Je veux apprendre le français. Another current mission of mine is to learn American Sign Language (I'd really love to practice). Oh, I'd also love to learn how to play harmonica and make it sound decent (this sounds simple, doesn't it? so why can't I do it?). I can teach you a bit of guitar or uke, how to make yummy daal from red lentils and coconut milk, and how not to repair your sneakers.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
