PHILOSOPHY

To inspire others is to awaken the Divine in each of us. What humanity has done, what human beings can do is both awesome and majestic. We shape the world around us, change it to our will and transmute the sum of our experiences into a far greater legacy reaching untold aeons into the future. For me it is not enough to merely experience the world around us but to affect it at its core; to touch its heart; to bring something shiningly novel into existence and leave those around me richer for my having been here.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It is a marvel of our species that we discover ourselves in the symbiosis of autonomy and community. We are separate, and yet they are the relationships we have with others which gives that division not only meaning but value. Strength comes both from the knowledge & experience required to sustain oneself as well as the understanding & transcenscion of individuality.

I have seen charity where it's needed, abuse where it's unintended, confusion where understanding was sought, and connection where no words were said.

My wealth is myself, and through art, assistance, knowledge, and companionship I share it as I can to breathe something wondrous back unto the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In Ireland I first experienced life on my own and knew what it meant to live out of a backpack with no home but the bounded sky. In the States I've hopped couches while traveling and gotten to know some fascinating people. I love how this simple kindness sparks a deeper communion between us. It is a risk to open yourself up to the unknown, and the more we are custodians to the gears of this world the easier it is to experience fear and authority for what we have. By practicing faith in others we cultivate faith within ourselves.

兴趣

I've a penchant for esoteric & occult studies ranging from the mundane to the fantastic. Historical & romanticized accounts of certain periods of human history have held particular fascination for me over the years including but not limited to significant eras in Europe, the Orient and the Middle East. I dabble modestly in a variety of subjects ranging from chainmaille weaving to Tarot & Astrology to Film & Animation. Oh, and I've a huge love for exploring. Forests, ruins & caverns rank among my favourite places to sort through.

Running alongside the sheer precipice edge of the Cliffs of Moher two feet away from a thousand-foot drop into the cold Atlantic Sea may be an exhilarating thrill at the time but in retrospect I'm amazed some wayward god didn't strike the turf from under my feet. ^_^

My primary focus has been on Leatherworking which I've been involved with for over a decade. Most of my experience during this time has been self-driven and self-trained with a year spent working for Leather Masters and three years spent running a one-man artisan business. My specialty is in leather carving & tooling which I teach as circumstances allow.

I can also cook some tasty vegan- and non-vegan meals :)
