About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make cool, useful things that people want a lot

ABOUT ME

Man I haven't updated this in forever. Guess I'm 21 now, building Sprayable Energy (http://sprayable.co), probably about to go on leave from school again and spend most of my time in San Francisco, which is like the coolest place in the world ever. Japan is a close second.

In the past few years I've been doing some fun startup things with a Thiel Fellowship, and I also got the chance to hit up all 7 continents in one year. Met my cofounder in Antarctica! That was pretty cool and totally justified the cost, which was pretty indefensible until that happened. Penguins, by the way, are really dirty and smelly creatures. National Geographic lied to me.

PHILOSOPHY

You'll never do things if you don't do them!

Live life as if you were going to live forever or die tomorrow. Or today. Or yesterday!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosted three awesome people at Harvard my freshman year before CouchSurfing got banned at Harvard forever as a direct consequence of my hostings. Sorry guys! Plenty of more hostings to come once I'm in San Francisco :).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On the getting hosted side, not nearly as much as I'd like - stayed with some amazing, amazing hosts (Katie and GHop!) who pretty much saved my life in Tanzania, but beyond that I haven't gotten a chance to really immerse myself with all of y'all. But hey - we'll change that together :).

Interests

Both CSes (couchsurfing and computer science), entrepreneurship/startups, rock climbing, cool and awesome people. Trying to keep it simple and to the point for now. Trying out this whole 'focus' thing.

Things on my todo-to-proficiency wishlist: paragliding, parkour, martial arts, dancing, surfing, scuba-diving. One thing at a time...

Oh yeah, and one of my overarching life goals is longevity research. This sums it up nicely: http://www.nickbostrom.com/fable/dragon.html

Music, Movies, and Books

Michael Crichton is pretty great. I've read pretty much everything he's written and Travels directly changed my life and influenced me, strangely enough, to travel. It's why I wanted to climb Kilimanjaro and why I want to go to Borneo.

My confession though - I grew up on fantasy. I love fantasy. That said, I'm in a bit of a lost zone right now . Not really sure what appeals to me. Holy crap that's kind of sad to realize. Reading the Wheel of Time series right now though, and it's pretty solid.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flying through the cloud layers above Dar es Salaam during sunrise at the start of the rainy season. Yeah. That was awesome.

Staring at the night sky halfway up a mountain in Moshi. No lights and the most brilliant sky I've ever seen. Strange to think we can only see the stars now in those places furthest from them.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would absolutely love to go rock climbing with you if you've any interest at all :). We can hit up the local gym or attempt to scale a building or something.

I'm also a big fan of programming and teaching people how to get started with that, so if you've ever wanted to learn, happy to show you some basics!

And I'm a big fan of startups too, so we can chat about that fun stuff as well.

What I'd love to learn? Going to copy my wishlist from above: dancing, martial arts, parkour, paragliding, surfing, scuba-diving. You're my hero if we get to do any of these things.
