So how do I give a true impression of myself in just a few paragraphs?

The easy stuff first: I studied computer science, and have since taken up working in the public sector of all places. I work at the Copenhagen City Archives, doing software development making tools for use by the digital archivists, and with the crowdsourcing platform we use for making old digitized records and protocols available and searchable to the public.

I love travelling although I'm a lousy tourist. The best memories of my travels relate more to the people I've met than the places and things I've seen, or the food I've eaten...

I like the idea of not always doing things in the easiest or most straightforward way, and I admire those who live their life alternatively. Sometimes the wealth of opportunities and convenience we have is perhaps limiting, or maybe it gives us a skewed outlook on life...

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

My first hosting experiences was back in 2011, when I lived with my cousin. Since then I've met a lot of amazing, and inspiring people, and even made a few friends along the way.

My first couchsurfing experiences were hosting couchsurfers while I stayed with my cousin. An all-around pleasant experience, although it was a bit overwhelming to have 4 couchsurfers in a 2-room flat, that already housed 2 people!

In some periods I've lived in places that were more friendly to host people than others. But being able to give back for all the immense help, company, nice experiences is often in the back of my mind.

Centres d'intérêt

I love to read, and especially when I was younger being a "reader" was a big part of my identity. In my uni years I didn't read much for pleasure, but I'm trying to get started properly again. Despite the above I don't consider myself very well read, and I still have huge chunks of the classics to cover.

I love playing guitar and singing. Mostly to myself as I'm a bit shy with it. I haven't written my own music, but there is a joy in covering the songs I love. I particularly like folky singer-songwritery stuff like Sufjan Stevens, The Tallest Man on Earth, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes. My falsetto has a hard time keeping up though.

Recently I've picked up the banjo I had that was gathering dust. Hopefully I'll be able to jam with the locals next time I come to Appalachia!

I really do like hitchhiking. To me it's more than a way to get around. In recent summers I've participated in (and helped organize once) the yearly Danish hitchhiking holiday disguised as a competition BLAF (Danish for hitchhike). Spending a week checking out small places in Denmark, completing challenges that make you go out of your comfort zone a bit, and swapping stories with the other participants at night.

Some authors that made the biggest impression on have been Tolkien, Italo Calvino, Philip Pullman, Carsten Jensen, Isaac Asimov...

As I mentioned above, I love folky music. But I like to think that I'm pretty genre agnostic... Other artists that's meant a lot to me over the years: Tool, The Knife, Fever Ray, Jan Johansson, Röyksopp, Sigur Rós, Modest Mouse, Shakey Graves, Portishead..

Perhaps I can give you some tips on hitchhiking (or at least tell you about my experiences).

I'm a bit of a computer-nerd so perhaps I can help you if you got some issues of that sort.

Basic programming is also possible to learn in a relatively short time.

I'm also happy to try and teach you a bit of danish aswell.
I love to learn about languages everywhere I go (At least the common phrases are always nice to know!)

I can offer my company first and foremost, I think that's what it's all about. So hopefully we can have engaging conversations about interesting topics, funny conversations about silly things or heartfelt conversations about life.

I also like to cook, although I'd be hard pressed to find work in the hospitality industry.
