About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Still figuring it out!

ABOUT ME

Well, it's quite challenging to give a personal description. Let's give it a try!I grew up in a small city in the south of Yemen called Aden. Until the age of 17, I had a one dimensional view of the world as culture and community presented definitions to a lot of things in my life. I moved to the US to do an exchange program for one year. I lived with an American host family. This trip to America shocked me with the fact that there were different points of views in the world. There're a lot of cultures that fascinates people by their difference. It expended the wide of my knowledge. I returned to Yemen filled with energy, passion and ambitions to participate creating an impact as a way of my participation in the community. I became an activist in the field of youth empowerment. I conducted initiatives and projects to share the vision which I shared with limited number of people to a wider range. My participation in the community gave me different opportunities to travel abroad; mostly to participate in conferences and forums. Each event I attended made an explosion in my mind in terms of gaining knowledge, knowing about different cultures and meeting amazing people from all around the world. It's simply fascinating. I moved to Sana'a-the capital of Yemen- to study French and do an internship with an educational organization. I stayed there for 7 months. I met some amazing people that taught me a lot. One of them was my close friend, boss and a couch surfer who introduced me to CS and also sparked my interest in Social Studies and humanities. Ibrahim and I had diverse and deep discussions in many fields. Simpaly the were never borning. I moved to Evry, France to study univercity. I do sciences (physics and chemistry) as a pre program for engineering degree. So, I love to talk, discuss about anything and just get to know more and more and more. I appreciate differences and I want to travel a lot and have fun:D I live with "Don't regret a decision you made with your mind" and "try everything in life just to know it".

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life by "I no longer try to be right. I chose to be happy"- Ric Elias.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Back home in Yemen I used to show people around when they come to visit my city and to get to know people from different countries. So far, I have only tried a hiking trip along the Seine river next to Melun, France. It was absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed the company.I'm planning to travel around Europe soon and CS will be the main choice to reduce the travel costs and meet different people, surf their couches and engage with travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I have had the chance to meet 4 couch surfers. It was a great experience to meet them and know more about this website. In the coming future, I'm planning to try it myself in other countries.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: My first book I read was "What I wish I knew when I was 20"; I absolutely loved the book. I love to read English novels that were written by eastern writers about their own cultures. Those books give an interesting image about the the Middle East and the eastern culture on general. Some titles are "Tears of the desert", "Minaret", "Moth Smoke" and "Three Cups of Tea".Movies: I love to watch any kind of movies. Starting from comedy, drama and ending in romance and horror. I'm not a big fan of horror but some of them are somehow interesting to watch.Music: Any kind of music works, just shake it when I feel like it and meditate and focus listening to classical music. I'm currently learning playing guitar. It's the first musical instrument for me to play.
