Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Try different types of food from around the world - culture is very much in the food

ABOUT ME

Cross-culture upbringing (locations not genetics) has opened my eyes to so many things. I love the food as well as the craziness of cities AND I love the peace and quiet the countryside as to offer. Since I can't be in 2 places at once, I would have to rely on hosting surfers who have travelled far and wide to share their unique experiences and thoughts regarding the places that they have been.

I used to want to just travel to eat and see things..since couchsurfing and making friends from near and far, my future travels have a purpose...I want to live like the locals do for a few days and get into their routine if possible and exchange stories from how rice is cooked differently in different countries to how family traditions differ within a same culture...there's so much to learn and so many books to read..if I can experience the content of a new book thru someone else's mind, when I read actually get to read it, it may turn out to be completely different.

If you would like me to consider hosting you, please send through your request, addressing me with my name. It can be found in my references. :)

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

2016 - Moved to Canterbury.

April 2013: Back in NZ! I'm shuttling between Palmerston North and Hamilton..will def try to participate in events or maybe even try organising a couple events myself.

6 months from Oct 2012 will be my first time attempting to couchsurf. I have hosted a few travellers but have never doine the surfing myself. I'm looking forward to hearing from the wonderful people that I've contacted. Yes or No to my requests, I am still very grateful for your response. :)

Jan 2013
I've surfed for the first time in Puncak and had a wonderful experience. I hope that I get to surf more couches and meet more amazing people that CS has in the network.

Feb 2013 onwards
I'm so jazzed to get more involved with CS when I get home to NZ. Looking forward to meeting more CSers in Thailand and Hong Kong before going home in March. I do miss my bed.

Thailand: Met random CSers for dinner and we met up a few more times and even did Flight of the Gibbons together! Such amazing people and excellent company.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few couchsurfers from around the world. It was awesome meeting random people. My family is very open so a few of them would join us for family dinners at my parents' place.

April 2013
Met many very savy and really chilled-out CSers in Hamilton through fortnightly meetings. They were my 'social life' in the Tron..hope to get back into those meetings and hopefully monthly activities. We did one successful games afternoon. Thanks to those who showed up. :)

Nov 2012
Met several CS in KL at their famous weekly meetings. Overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the many individuals that offered to take me around or even to hang out. I am so grateful! Even met other travelers with interesting stories and experiences. Would definitely recommend anyone traveling to/thru KL to join them on Wed evenings at Reggae Bar. 2 thumbs up!!

Jan 2013
Puncak, Bogor, Indonesia. The sincerity and generosity of the couch surfers here have been nothing but heartwarming. I could not have had a better experience meeting Recky (his family & friends) and Suciati. Recky is my guardian angel from Puncak, he went far and beyond the call of a couchsurfer to welcome me and assisted me from the airport right to his home and my rented accommodation. Suciati and I became fast friends, talking about everything! I'm so grateful to have met them and hope that I get to host them in the same generosity as they have hosted me.

Feb 2013
Partied with Pattaya CSers! Met some very lovely people at a dinner and a few of us went out partying along The Walking Street. It was a great nite…totally worth the travel from KKOZ to Pattaya just for the evening.

March 2013
HK was cool! Met so many cool CSers..we went for drinks, partied, dined and shopped. I throughly enjoyed the company. So glad to experience the CS community in HK. :)

Intereses

I enjoy reading, talking and when I'm in the right mood - cooking. I listen to a wide range of music but won't really consider myself a fan of any one particular band. Oh, I love to eat. I'll be quite happy to try anything at least once (I do prefer if the animal is not endangered though).

Board games are always awesome! Never too old to learn a new board game. Takes time away from electronic devices and really spend quality time with family and friends.

Música, películas y libros

Books: A range from chic flicks to non-friction. I'm open to new titles and authors. If you have a book to exchange, even better!

Movies: The Godfather Trilogy (about time I watched these classics!)

Music: I'm slightly musically-challenged so I'm open to suggestions. I've never really enjoyed loud music BUT I went to an AC/DC concert and it was AMAZING!!

Algo increíble que he hecho

I have more than one!!

1. Went camping in the Kalahari, South Africa with 2 girls I met there. We were living in tents, hiding from lightning storms, flooding and 50 degrees heat.
2. Checked out the Orange river at Augrabies Fall National Pack. Was woken up by baboons fighting outside our tent.. I was quietly freaking (!!!) out inside wondering when they'll go away so that I can get out and go to the toilet.
3. Got up at 3am to visit the Borobudur in Central Java with friends that I made when working at the zoo. Such a beautiful place.
4. Seen the cutest animals in the world: Otters!
5. Experience sheet lightning in the Kalahari desert. That's something that is hard to forget.
6. Spent a week 'running' away from the lightning storm in Queensland, Australia in the summer of 2008 while on a fieldtrip with classmates.
7. Flight of the Gibbon zip lining in Khao Kheow Open Zoo - highly recommend!!
8. Toured NZ in a van for 3 months with my boyfriend: New Zealand is so beautiful and I wake up feeling grateful everyday that I live in this wonderful country with amazing people and countless sites to visit.
9. Read, signed and left the book "Cry of the Kalahari" in the Kalahari for other travelers to do the same. I hope it's still there.
10. Worked in zoos and studying about zoos!

Feb 2013
Conducting my thesis research alongside meeting CSers. What a wonderful way to meet random interesting people :)
