About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm currently on a 6-month adventure around NZ, Aussie & the South East of Asia with my brother. Personal motto: 'Explore. Dream. Discover. Make friends. Have fun. See the world.'

ABOUT ME

I'm a 28 year old Argentinian, who can never get enough of the world: I just want to see it all, try it all (at least once) and meet as many people as I can while I’m at it! Traveling is my life and I’ve been doing it for quite some time now (though I always come back home to Argentina): in the past 5/6 years I’ve lived in the States and in New Zealand and some time ago I used to live in Spain, as well. I want to travel around, get to know new cultures, try out crazy food and most importantly, I plan to enjoy every single minute of it! I’m easy-going, super sociable (I talk A LOT!) and I love good food (my mum is to blame for that).

On the not-so-fun side of life (read: work) I run a Translations Agency (which I manage even when I’m abroad) and compulsively attend courses on the most varied topics you can imagine: I’m a certified Wine Sommelier, Air Hostess and Bartender. I’ve taken courses in Dubbing and Subtitling, Leadership, Italian, Protocol and even Radio Production! And I've also studied Communications' Science/Journalism for 4 years at university.

When I’m not traveling (insert sad face here) I work as an English <> Spanish Translator and/or as a Sommelier. My work experience includes anything from 3 years as the personal interpreter for an Ambassador in Argentina as well as call center, ski resorts and souvenir shops employee experiences.

If I had to name my favorite 3 things in life I’d say… that’s not enough! ;) I love traveling, English and reading. I enjoy time with friends and drinking wine. I’m a massive fan of TV shows, movies and Hollywood gossip (guilty pleasure!). I’m definitely a foodie and I think my wildest dream is to one day become the host of a traveling/food show like Anthony Bourdain or Andrew Zimmern. When I’m home, I just love to spend time with my fam: my brother Eduardo (23yo, a chef and bartender who usually travels with me), my mum and my dad.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm just gonna share three quotes that I think summarize my personal philosophy:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." – Mark Twain

"The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams." - Oprah Winfrey

"Do not cry knowing you can never see the entire world! Rejoice knowing there will always be an unknown to explore."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just joined the CS community so I haven't had a chance to host anyone just yet. And I have never couchsurfed before either. I promise to update this section as soon as I do either of them ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since I'm a new member, I haven’t really started the CS experience yet, but my plan is to start… right now! I want to become active in the community, join groups and participate as much as I can because I truly want to meet fellow travelers around the world.
In just a couple of weeks I'll be off on a 6-months adventure with my brother that will take us to NZ, Australia and the South East of Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia & Vietnam) and advice is gonna be highly appreciated. Also, if we get the chance, we'd love to start living the CS experience by staying with locals at some of the places we'll visit in the SEA, to get the insiders’ look and share the secrets that only a local knows about their hometown.

Interests

I've said it before but... here we go again!

If I had to name my favorite 3 things in life I’d say… that’s not enough! ;) I love traveling, languages in general and English in particular (I'm a Spanish native speaker)and reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

So many it would take me forever to list them all!

Movies: most of them! Except for horror and war movies.

Music: anything from the 80's (like me!)

Books: almost anything! Except for numbers-related stuff and self-help.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing has to be a surprise acrobatics flight (a present given to me by my awesome friend Karlos) over Mt. Maunganui and Tauranga (NZ) with my good friend Matt, who happens to be a pilot and flight instructor. We did 360°s, the '8' and so many other things which names I can't even remember! It was absolutely FUNtastic!

The other would have to be a late night dinner at the top of one of the mountains at Mammoth Lakes Ski Resort in CA, USA. We came down on snowcats and it was just amazing. The stars in the sky, the roaring of the engines, us absolutely stoked and the snow all around us... Magic!

I'll get back to you on that :P
