To return to a life that includes travel and social connection after the global challenges of the last few years. We especially enjoy places that are steeped in art and history and people who are interested in social justice, equality. the value of creating a 'handcrafted' life, and saving this precious planet for future generations.

ABOUT ME

We left Australia (for a second time) at the end of 2016 and now live in Brittany, France.

I do research-based writing and editing (full books, research articles, and websites) for clients all over the world -- mainly for NGOs or think-tanks in Europe and Washington, DC. Although it wasn't planned, I'm mainly retired now. -- http://www.deborahharmes.com

Until a year ago, my husband Mark was in the building trades for over 25 years. He has taken an early retirement due to long covid. -- http://www.markharmes.com

PHILOSOPHY

Who wants to be 'normal' and then look back on your life when you are elderly and think, "If only I had..." (insert appropriate place, thing, activity, people, etc.)

Life zooms by SO quickly that I want to absorb everything that I can -- while I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have been CouchSurfing on and off since 2010 and have had quite positive experiences. We've met lovely people in Germany, the Netherlands, and France -- some of whom are no longer active members of this platform so, unfortunately, our mutual reviews have disappeared!

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

In spite of my strong fear of heights, I was nudged into climbing several of the pyramids in the Yucatan Peninsula. The triumphant sensation was amazing since (a)I'm not an overly physical person & (b)the idea of being up that high without safety-railing took a huge mental shift to cope with. It was a stunning couple of days!
