About Me

CURRENT MISSION

get my life back in control...after the best carnaval in the world, SALVADOR!@09.03.2011

ABOUT ME

born in 83 near Kasukabe, Saitama prefecture, Japan. moved to NY at the age of 8, and after finishing college moved back to Tokyo, worked for 5 years, and right now here in Salvador since end of June/2010 studying portuguese under a scholarship program of the company.
I LOVE: my gf, who's still in Tokyo. we're getting married next year / lifting weights (a close second place) / music, all kinds from country to classical to forro / eating good food, which unfortunately has become a bit difficult after moving here from tokyo / going out with good friends / football (american!) / videogames.
I HATE: cigarette smoke. thats really about it.

PHILOSOPHY

-Work (out) hard, play hard.
-I may not like certain people, but I respect everybody. I also respect everybody's opinion but dont push it on others. (my american side speaking)
-Id rather die young for a cause than live to be 100. (my japanese side speaking)
-I dont live alone, we are all connected somehow(something buddhist, I think)
-I am not above or better than anybody, whoever he/she may be(its universal, hopefully).
-I am happy with what I have and believe I will receive what I deserve. I dont need to trick, beguile or sacrifice others to gain anything.
-I dont like spending money on myself, but I love spending money for people I like!
-When I have kids someday, the most important thing for him/her to learn is the ability to feel the pain of others suffering in this world. next is courtesy and respect for others. then comes football.
-I believe more than anything in bodybuilding. Besides the aesthetics, the most important "strength" you can have is the willingness to suffer to help others and being able to endure it without a flinch. And lifting nurtures that mental strength to persevere anything like no other, because lifting is self-inflicted pain and pain is weakness leaving the body(last part taken from the Marines).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since December 2010 I hosted many many people, as many as 8 at once (but during carnaval). Now I have decided to take a break and get my life back on track, especially with my wedding coming up in June.

you can still find me at our capoeira lessons (Mon/Thurs/Fri), and much less likely but also at Saturday night get togethers (whether at the Jazz at Museum of Modern Art or somewhere else), Wednesday night weekly meetings, and any other events happening around town.

music - right now mainly forró, back in the US I listned to A LOT of country music, of course I like japanese music (j-pop?), when I work out I listen to heavy metal (Disturbed!) or hip-hop, and have great appreciation for classical music having played the piano for 13 years

books-I read so much faster and visualize much better in Japanese. My favorite author is Haruki Murakami (anyone??)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

it may be cheesy and has nothing to do with CS but playing 4 years of college football in a DI-AA team was an experience I will cherish for a long time. It was a year-round commitment and I gained 25kgs just to be able to contribute to the team. My school was in upstate NY where it starts to snow in late October and since the season goes until December, we played in blistering cold weathers, like minus 20 degrees, including what would be considered blizzards anywhere a bit more to the south. Thankfully, I did lose the weight.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines
