About Me

I grew up in Slovakia as a representative of the Hungarian ethnic minority, in the town of Komárno/Komárom. Currently doing my PhD in Russian Linguistics, focusing on Sociolinguistics. I am very open minded,I love everyone, I can make conversations easily and try to befriend the whole world!

Currently my boyfriend and I are planning a road trip around the beautiful nature sceneries of Finland and Norway. We are both into traveling, metal music and computer games - so, the usual stuff. He is into Geography and I am into Linguistics :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My mother and I used to host couchsurfers at our little apartment in Komárno, Slovakia. All of them were really nice experiences because hosting someone else kind of feels like you are traveling yourself! I love to see my oldtown through the eyes of tourists and listen to their stories.

As said above, now the goal is a bit different - our little Finnougric coalition (Hungarian girl and Estonian boy) is setting out on a big journey to go to Norway from Tallinn, Estonia, all the way through Finland. We will be mostly camping and hiking, but it would be nice to meet some locals who can tell us about the place they live in and who could offer us a room to crash in and maybe even to take an actual shower ;D
We'd be more than happy to tell you about the places we have visited or to bring you something nice from Estonia :)

Interests

In short: Linguistics and metal music in any quantity

Going out into the city/nature/riverside, travel - anytime, anywhere, mostly with train, ride the bicycle, learn languages, learn about the culture, go to concerts, open air music festivals, do some sports, jogging, volleyball, other ball games, visit friends, shop, sit and read in cafés, pretend to be a digital nomad, go out with friends for a beer and discuss life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly rock and metal, spiced with traditional folk music (Hungarian, Irish, Slavic, Nordic, Balkan, Mongolian - throw at me whatever!) but also some electronic stuff (like DnB, dubstep, glitch hop).
The biggest favourites these times were Be'lakor, Insomnium, Nightwish, Dalriada, Ensiferum.

I especially love bands who sing in their native languages!

Hard to say about the movies, I guess the one I basically instantly rewatched after first seeing it was "V for Vendetta".
Currently we are both very much into "The Last Kingdom".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been to hundreds of rock concerts and festivals, where I crowdsurfed a good couple of times... I have been to Germany for a year with a scholarship. I have lived in a height of 1550 metres in the Tyrolian Alps during a student exchange program and experienced snow in June... Any many others.

Swam naked in the Atlantic ocean on a summerish October day.

Traveled all alone to Russia just to see one of my favourite bands.

Presented a talk at the biggest linguistic conference in Europe.

Teach, Learn, Share

Food is one of my love-languages and the "famous Hungarian hospitality" is not lost in me so I would be happy to cook something Hungarian for you if it comes to that!
I can also dance some Hungarian folk dances and will gladly teach anyone who is willing to listen.
I have lived in 5 different countries for extended periods of time and speak some languages so I am both eager to talk about that and to listen to everything you can tell me!
Out of us two, I am around a thousand times more extroverted than Him though :P
