About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding a place to enjoy calling home

ABOUT ME

They would probably say that we are continuous explorers. My husband has been traveling nearly non-stop since 2006 and I since 2009 together with him. We are on a quest to discover a place/places where we can enjoy living and knowing people. In each place that we go, our desire is to develop meaningful and lasting relationships. We both lived in the US for some years and had our share of the "good life" of being able to buy many things and feel comfortable (not that there is anything inherently wrong with those things) but now we have found greater joy in exploring new places and finding much more time for meeting many different kinds of people. It is a tough realisation when you see how quickly the things you buy start to fade and deteriorate. That is why we have chosen instead to try to concentrate as much as possible on things related to our hearts and passions and those in others. With time and with encouragement, those things can grow and blossom and become all the time new.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not enough as of yet. The birth of our son clipped our travel wings for a while and can also make it a little harder to find hosts. We want to be able to open up our home more and also meet more people through this site. We don't like to travel and not meet people living in the place so we hope that this site will enable more new friendships.

Interests

More than anything, my husband and I enjoy time with people. There is so much you can discover when someone is in your home or you are in theirs and you can just relax and be together. Not always just doing something together but just being together. Asking questions. The kind of questions that are rarely asked but make people feel so much closer when they are spoken. Walking outside. Making opportunities to try to notice things that are so often overlooked. There is so much creativity in people and so much beauty in nature that can just become ordinary if we allow it to be so.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Our son. His birth and his life. He provides us with so many amazing moments. Watching him walk, learn, talk, laugh, it is all incredible. He started out able to do so little and in two years is now so capable and so desiring to learn that it amazes us each and every day. We long for the joy that he possesses so naturally and we are so happy when we get to absorb some of his joy into us. Seeing the coast of Croatia for the first time left us awestruck. All of the myriad of islands off the coast, the deep blue waters, the ancient cities and ports; it is an incredible place. Seeing old pains and walls in our families come down for the first time ever. That is something wonderful. It is so painful to recognize sometimes how much damage those things can do in a family but then when you see family members letting down those walls and drawing closer to each other it is so wonderful.
