About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Trying to figure out and understand china
ABOUT ME
I am one of "those" people who really didn't know what to do with themselves after they graduated from college. So I had studied chinese in college and HS so I decided to come to China to figure out my life and myself. I also am an avid runner, I love competing and running in races.
PHILOSOPHY
Take risks, get out of your comfort zone, there is so much to see in the world and you have your entire life to work 9-5.
Also, kids in America are the same as kids in China, I feel this applies to any two countries you pull out of a hat. Just think about it for a second...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Love the idea of couch surfing because it lets people see what is real. To be honest I think Liuzhou is very underrated for cities in china, it is quite interesting and I have yet to feel bored with this city, lots of things to do.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have only surfed thus far, nobody wants to come to Liuzhou i guess! :( Anyways, I have had some good experiences in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Meet some fascinating people with great stories to tell!
Interests
I like running, wasting time on my computer, being an informed worldly citizen, and just trying to explore the world and discovering myself in it.
- running
- backpacking
- surfing
- rock climbing
Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite musician is Atmosphere. I generally like alternative rock and independent hiphop. Kinda hipster stuff but I hope I'm not too big of a hipster...(takes a swig of some PBR)...shit...
Movies, Way too many to think about... Really like movies that make you think, Fight Club, Inception, Requiem for a Dream.. plenty more. For something a little light hearted, I probably could watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off on repeat and not really have a problem with it, other 80's classics as well Star Wars and Back to the Future come to mind.
Books, I don't read too many books but I love reading news, particularly newspapers in actual paper form. While I love getting free NYTimes on my computer, I'd rather have the real deal. Other news websites I like include, Al Jazerra, Politico and the Star Tribune (home town stuff).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So far on my journey to China the single best thing I've done was going climbing in Yangshuo. A friend from home was backpacking through China and we decided to go together, awesome decision. My feeble runners arms were sore for days...
But probably what has been more amazing is just meeting so many people from around the world that see things in a different way than I do and trying to understand why they see things that way.
