About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make international connections

ABOUT ME

Hey, it's been awhile since I've last been on couch surfing. I started because I was studying abroad last year in Barcelona, Spain. Right now, I'm living back in the suburbs near Chicago, IL. I'm hoping to make some international connections or talk to people about their travels. I'm big on discovering new places, cultures, customs, recipes, etc. I also love to write, in a variety of genres.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in working hard for what you've got. I think it's good to have a plan but also to acknowledge that the future can surprise you, in good or bad ways. Staying in tune with my emotions, learning, sharing with, and helping others is my latest focus in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By attending local events so far. CS Chicago is a great group!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a good experience meeting people through couch surfing, and I'm hoping to find that again. I miss talking to other people about their travels, or just getting to meet new people from other corners of the world!

Interests

writing, sketching (charcoal especially), discovering new music, discovering movements (punk underground, romanticism, generation '98, reactions in history), discovering great films, getting involved, traveling, meeting new people, dancing, living, breathing, feeling

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oh man, reading this is bringing back memories. Recently I got a short story accepted into the Catch, the Knox College literary magazine, which is quite an accomplishment for me. It's given me new hope for my writing.

I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain for nearly seven months, and the experience changed my life. I kept exploring new places and events almost every day it seems. One of my favorite experiences was spending the New Years in Sicily with my best friend Emy. And just meeting so many incredible people throughout my travel and life experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn more about culture, and I hope I can share some of mine too! I come from a variety of backgrounds as a Mexican American, but I've also got some German/Irish/Dutch/Welsh floating around in there. I also speak two languages: English and Spanish, with the random phrase from a variety of other languages. This is just the beginning of my travels, but I hope to expand my knowledge of different countries. I would love to learn more languages, and I've picked up just a bit of Catalan recently.
