Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm signed up for coffee, but what I'm really offering is to take guests to participate in the scheduled Temezcals. The temezcal is a holistic sweat lodge in the Mezoamerican tradition. If you are coming to the Albuquerque area, and are interested in participating, send me a message - I love talking about the temezcal.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading Jamie Sams, "Dancing the Dream".

Listening to Vladiswar Nadishana, Hapa, Abbie Spinner McBride, Richard Taha, The Fishtank Ensemble, Ojos de Brujo, India Lucia

Movies - I'm watching everything I can find in Spanish with english subtitles - preferably not dubbed - watching Firefly-the series (dubbed) right now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Japanese-style moon viewing in the snow, on the Crest of Sandia Mountain at 10,678 feet (3,255 m).

Fed a carrot to a baby Black Rhino at San Diego Wild Animal park.

Hiked to the Kilauaa ocean entry at dawn.

Watched the Delta II ELV launch with the Mars Rover A payload at Cape Kennedy in June 2003.

Did fall roundup on the Continental Divide - chased cows, herding, branding.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've recently apprenticed to a Curandera & Temezcalera in the Mixteca tradition. A Temezcal is a sweat lodge, used for various holistic healing rituals. There are regularly scheduled temezcals for the entire community, as well as exclusively for males or females. The rituals are usually in both Spanish and English. Similar to the Lakota Sweat, but the energy is feminine in the Temezcal, representing the womb.
