About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm 22 and waiting to start my dream job in May this year. <3 It will also means I can afford to travel more which is always good news!

I love nature, animals, art, learning, anything outdoors and laughing - I am a bit silly and rarely serious!

PHILOSOPHY

"There are no foriegn lands, It is the traveller only who is foreign"

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been hosted by some great people during my travels.

I hitch hiked from England to Turkey and CS was fantasic to meet people and get a local's view of the cities I visited.

I have hosted a few people I have met on my travels and I love showing them the beautiful Dorset countryside. I hope more will want to stay, it's a small place but worth a visit!

Interests

I have always loved art. My Mum is an artist so I have been doing it since I was very young. I especially like to make model animals. :-)

I an a keen runner and hiker and am always trying to get out to walk/run whenever I can. It's a great way to get outdoors and see things and it always clears my mind and keeps me happy! I like swimming too.

I want to travel forever <3

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read philosophy and travel books, "The Art of Pilgrimage" is one of my favourites. I also like to read travel guides, even of places I have no current plans to visit!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the mist come into the mountains in Morocco while climbing Mount Toubkal. Then sitting on a roof watching it turn into a massive thunderstorm with the most dramatic forks of lightening I have ever seen!
Sleeping in the desert with the sand blowing over me and seeing moon shadow.
Hitch-hiking from Andover, UK to Istanbul, Turkey. I met some spectacularly generous people!
Skiing - it's amazing everytime!
Working at a baby bear refuge in Croatia and meeting people from all over the world.
Kayaking around the Jurassic Coast where I live.

I'm easily amazed, I can't get used to how wonderful the world is!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love art, so I'm sure I could show people how to make some cool things!

I also play backgammon.

And I have worked as an English teacher so perhaps I could help anyone who is wanting to practice their English!
