About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Grow and evolve as a person by having as many amazing new experiences as possible

ABOUT ME

Journalism graduate // blogger // natural health enthusiast // yoga and meditation lover // vegetarian (and I like making vegan food for fun) // natural skincare and beauty sampler // positive spirit

I left to travel for a year and a half as of July 17, 2011. Since then, I have been traveling throughout Europe and Southeast Asia and have been living in Australia since October 2011 months with my fiance, Josh.

About me:

I'm 23 years old and I'm ready to break out of my comfort zone. I grew up a pretty sheltered life in the suburbs of Montreal and spent the last four years away from friends and family at university in Toronto. I recently graduated and I'm not ready to settle down with a 9 to 5 job just yet. I've never really traveled for an extended period of time and I'm absolutely loving it.

I'm kind, open, friendly and down to earth, and I'd love to meet like-minded people from around the world.

NOTE: *** I am so so sorry for those of you who have made couch requests and I didn't reply. I feel so terrible and I think I just hadn't fully figured out how to use this site until it was too late to respond to anyone. ***

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto other as you would want them to do unto you (treat others the way you hope to be treated).

My personal goal is to live life more day-by-day... I'm a planner and sometimes I get so caught up in planning, I forget to enjoy the moment!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I met with a fellow couchsurfer for the day in Brighton, near London. That was my very first experience with CS and it was incredible to be shown such warmth and hospitality from someone I had never met in person.

When Josh and I arrived in Perth, we stayed with a girl and her two best friends (all living together) and it was the best thing we ever did - they are now three of our best friends and I know we are going to be friends for life (I know that's cheesy but it's 100% true).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm so delighted that so many people are willing to help a stranger on this website! I have been shown such kindness and I try to pay it forward when I can as a surfer (by cooking, cleaning and being super considerate to not put out my hosts in any way), and I hope to continue to pay it forward when I return to Canada by hosting for the first time.

Interests

Natural health (experimenting with natural skincare and beauty products), cooking and nutrition, yoga, biking, reading, watching movies, writing, watching funny videos on youtube, cute cats (yup, I'm one of those), relaxing with friends and family

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 16, I went to Poland to see the concentration camps. That was an incredible experience that I can't really put into words.

On a vacation with my family, we went zip-lining hundreds of feet in the air over a forest in Honduras.

I went swimming with dolphins in the Bahamas.

I'm a certified SCUBA diver (Thailand)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook healthy food. I am a vegetarian leaning toward veganism... but I don't like labels because I don't actually fit into any of them. I don't eat meat, but I will eat fish and eggs once in a while. I gave up dairy for a while, but I started eating it again and I don't know how I ever did it! I am in love with cheese and yogurt! I'm pretty easygoing, though. I don't mind picking veggies out of a dish with meat in it, so I always find something to eat.

I love experimenting with new recipes and my fiancé is an amazing cook so if you host us, you're in for a treat! If you host us during our travels, I would love to thank you for your hospitality with some yummy home-cooked meals (if you're interested, of course!) I love to share my recipes and learn new ones. I'm also an avid blogger and love social media, so if you love your computer, we'll have a lot to talk about!
