About Me

CURRENT MISSION:
To reconcile religion and science while playing at the beach

ABOUT ME:
I'm adventurous, creative,an active listener An equal sensor and judger, I make choices both with my heart and with my mind,
I spend a fair part of my time alone and often like it that way. I easily embrace change and novelty.
I am striving to become fully conscious ,to know and accept myself completely.
I'm successful at what I do , without being hung up on material things
I enjoy most of the usual things- books, movies, theater , the beach, dining out, hiking, challenging conversation, travel, toasted marshmallows, Monty Python. And good coffee
I'm peaceful and happy with the way my life is turning out.
I'm kind , funny and caring.I'm private, can be withdrawn at times . At others I'm attentive and aware. I have clearly defined personal boundaries and I will protect these while at the same time making sure that your boundaries are protected and your personal rights are not infringed .
I'm a semi retired property developer..I retired when I was about 42 and I work from time to time if it interests me.In between times I research , study and play on the beach. I've been single for 20 years ..I have two grown up children.
PHILOSOPHY:
Life's a bitch then you die ( ha ha ha).. my personal philosophy is that what we call reality is a just a dream and an illusion albeit a very persistent one ( I stole this from Albert Einstein)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING:
I have a place near the beach in a good locality . I like meeting new people and showing them my city if I have time and am free ..Im a good amateur tour guide with a lot of knowledge about South Africa and Cape Town that I like sharing..
I love meeting new people one on one or in small numbers ..Im a bit introverted.
I live alone( and work mostly alone) and have done for many years so I enjoy the people contact ,the company and the energy of new people.
Ive been on private tours with at least three internet friends who were visiting RSA and we traveled all over the country when this coincided with my own holidays.
Two trips around the Western Cape and one long trip down the entire eastern seaboard of SA from Mozambique to Cape Town.
I've couch-surfed myself on a backpacking trip to Europe

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far I have had a grand time with the people staying. Mostly......
More recently Ive noticed a change to the type of requests I get . I feel there now more people on CS who are not travelers but are footloose tourists looking for cheap accommodation. I saw in CS originally a green shoot of a new way of living , a new economy , that of the sharing economy but there is not that much sharing anymore. I once felt I was making a contribution to making a better world but am more repeatedly feeling used . If your intention is to use me , then I suggest you try another host .My world is about sharing not low cost tourism .Travelers are welcome.
