About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn as much as possible. Meet cool people and hopefully make lasting connections.

ABOUT ME

In my next life I'd like to come back as a Golden Retriever.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others how you'd like to be treated. Happiness works best when shared. True contentment comes mostly from helping others. Live and let live. Stand up for what you believe in. Above all else, be true to thyself.

"There is not a truth existing which I fear, or would wish unknown to the whole world."

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: All sorts of stuff... but especially old-school country (Cash, Jennings, Haggard, Williams, Nelson, etc) and classical (Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Verdi). I also dig indie, folk, and blues.

Movies: I love documentaries. Also anything by Kubrick, Malick, Tarkovsky, all Bond movies, sci-fi, horror, comedies, etc.

Books: Mostly non-fiction, especially anything about science, the environment, politics, or philosophy. Anything controversial.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving over Ka'ena Point on Oahu... the best view in the world, from 14,000 feet at 100 miles per hour.

Watching the great migration crossing the road in front of our jeep in Serengeti National Park, and being close enough to a lion to reach out and touch it.

Hiking across miles of jagged boulders at midnight to the edge of Kilauea Volcano with a friend, and then watching the sun rise over lava flowing into the ocean, creating brand new land right before our eyes... epic.

Also, getting chased out of the ocean by a tiger shark while surfing on Oahu.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty good with computers and electronics, and I'm handy around the house with fixing stuff in general. My friends also say I'm a walking library of knowledge about history, politics, science, and music, so if there's anything you want to know about that stuff, I'm your guy.

I'd like to learn how to cook better, how to farm, how to play the harmonica, and how to build a house. Hopefully all at the same time.

I've found that I've learned more about life in a few months of traveling than did in fifteen year of school.
