À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Living the dream in... wherever I am now, always looking out for fellow travelers

ABOUT ME

As of right now (June 2013) I finished my second year of teaching in Busan, Korea and I'm currently an unemployed vagabond.

I grew up in a working class suburb of Dallas, Texas. Spent three years in the U.S. Army, then went to Texas State University. I've been a misfit, a rebel and a free thinker since childhood. I've mellowed out a lot, but I still see the world through my own eyes.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I got involved in the project while living with friends in Austin. We were leasing a big house and had an extra room, as a result we hosted people a couple of times a month. I had some of my best times in Austin showing surfers around and getting into the many subcultures Austin has to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed a handful of times and hosted more than 20 times. I really love hosting; the desire to show off what I like about the city I'm living in results in some really amazing weekends.

Centres d'intérêt

Photography, bluegrass guitar. I have become obsessed with film photography over the last few months! Please check out my photos http://globalgreg.tumblr.com/

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

There's a lot that could go here. I'll just name a couple of novels that really framed my worldview: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which I read for the first time when I was in high school and have gone back to at least a half dozen times (this book is also what inspired me to start riding motorcycles) and more recently The Story of B, which brought a lot of my questions about the state of industrial civilization into focus. These are exciting times to live in, and that's both a good thing and a bad thing!

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I'm totally anti-war, and I almost never talk about the three years I spent in the Army, but my year in Iraq was really a defining experience in my life. I saw a lot of the worst that humanity has to offer, and I saw how easy it is to accept it as a part of life. That fake realism that says, "The world sucks and I can't change it, so I'm going to suck, too." I say fuck that. I want to see the best that humanity has to offer. I want to be around people who thrive on positivity.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I'm really interested in the theory and application of language learning. What works, what doesn't, what are the surprises you come across on the journey to becoming bilingual?
