About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover nice and clever ways of living, meet people and maybe get new ideas?

ABOUT ME

I'm quite calm and open-minded; I like chatting over serious and less serious subjects, especially with people with different life experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I got to discover CS through a friend, and then many friends while living abroad (Stuttgart, Germany). I enjoyed the spirit of couchsurfing and registered.
I don't use much CS when travelling, but sometimes, and have great experiences from that; also hosting made me meet really cool people.

Interests

Discover and understand the world, how it changes and how much diversity there is in human cultures; I'm interested in languages in general, also in politics (but I'm no activist of any party or organisation, far too self-questioned for that), the impacts of science and of art on humanity.. Also understand individual destinies, points of view, ways of life - and even without understanding, spend some nice time with people.
In practice I also like simpler things: musics (music really important for me, from rock to classical and other styles),
books and movies; sports that can also be used as a means of transportation; and traveling when I can (also for reasons above!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Some movies from Jim Jarmusch, Sofia Coppola, Coen brothers, Woody Allen.
Also some french movies, and a few years ago I also saw a lot of good ones from South America, Eastern and Northern Europe.
Music: a lot! Mainly indie rock, from pop to grunge and post-rock, sometimes punk : Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Pixies, Arcade Fire, Godspeed, Interpol, The Kills, Blur,.. but also traditional musics (especially gipsy and klezmer) and classical.
A few writers I appreciate (whom I enjoyed reading recently, or repeatedly): Haruki Murakami, Jim Harrison, Boris Vian, Jean Echenoz, Christian Oster, Paul Auster, Andrzej Stasiuk, Jack London, Herman Hesse, ..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A improvized bonfire when a bus had to be fixed during a trip in Bolivia, and most travelers (= mostly Bolivians) started to pick some wood and start the fire, to warm up (the night was quite cold).
Another bonfire in a forest in western Ukraine: a travel out of time for a couple of hours.
Many amazing hikes, mostly in Pyrenees and Alps, also in the Rockies.
Bike travels (the longest, along the Danube from Regensburg to Vienna, also included great couchsurfing experiences).

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, France, Germany, Poland
