About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Laugh as much as possible.

ABOUT ME

I am a teacher who is busy exploring the world, learning, finding truth and beauty and love. This shit is hard.

I'm probably a lot like you.

PHILOSOPHY

"The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit." ~Nelson Henderson

Be good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed around the world, made friends and connections through the site, but still have not had a chance to host as my living situations have been quite transient for the past five years, and I am often way out in the middle of nowhere (Google Eek, AK) where not too many travelers find themselves. However! If you are ever near where I am, I would love to finally host! It's about time I gave back to CS!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The first time I Couchsurfed I was halfway sure I was about to be murdered as I approached Alex's house at dusk. Five years later, he is one of my dearest friends. All of my experiences since have been equally amazing and enriching.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I love to read, but certainly don't do it enough. I love Perks of Being a Wallflower, Traveling Mercies, Harry Potter, Fahrenheit 451, Siddhartha, The Hunger Games, Water For Elephants, Who Will Run The Frog Hospital, Educating Esme, Little Bee, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Yes Please, Tiny Beautiful Things, I Am Proud of You, Bossypants, Unspeakable, Middlesex, Kitchen Confidential, Teacher Man....I am always open to book suggestions!!

Music: I love lots of different music. Classical, Irish, Salsa, Funk, Reggaeton, Alternative...just about anything. Some artists I like: Brandi Carlile, Ingrid Michaelson, Ani Difranco, Ray LaMontagne, Daddy Yankee, Liadan, Yo-Yo Ma, James Taylor, Grateful Dead, Adele...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending a night sleeping on a cowhide under the stars in a friend's Maasai village in rural Tanzania.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to salsa dance...although I am certainly not an expert. I am willing to teach anyone who is a beginner though! And I'm willing to dance with anyone :) I can brew kombucha, start an indoor worm compost, and make homemade soap. I can knit and sew (although neither to a very skilled level). I want to learn any type of musical skills, gardening skills, cooking or baking tips, sewing skills, and more advanced dancing/yoga.
