About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to grow by experiencing the world's different cultures, either by visiting different countries, or meeting and hosting people from all over the world.

ABOUT ME

I am a liberal vegetarian, born in a Christian culture, but prefer Hinduism and Buddhism. The food is better, the philosophy is deeper. After university I spent 10 years at the ISKCON yoga ashram in Cape Town training and eventually teaching meditation and Bhagavad Gita philosophy. By the age of 30 I left my home city to live in the quieter, cleaner town of Plettenburg Bay on the south coast of Africa, in the most beautiful tourist area called The Garden Route, or The Eden District. I love the sea, having grown up at the coast and now live just a few minutes walk from the beach. Actually I look after the houses of numerous clients here who go overseas every year. I therefore do not have a big place of my own. Usually there is a dog I am pet sitting in each house. I am vegetarian and do not cook meat or chicken or fish at my houses. However, I live in one of the most beautiful holiday towns by the sea in the entire country. It is a small town with all the facilities and many beautiful natural forests and mountains around to explore, as well as possible sea sports. I have lived in India for 6 months, Taipei, in Taiwan for 6 weeks; and Mauritius and Zambia for a few days.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a peace-loving pacifist vegetarian, keen on recycling, living in harmony with the planet, preserving the natural beauty of the world and meditating to awaken consciousness as propounded by the various world philosophies in an intergal way. I love Tao, Buddhism and Hinduism.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hollywood movies like Avatar, Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Waking Life, anything sci-fi or fantasy. Also movies like What the Bleep, Zeitgeist, The Secret. Trance music is what I deejay at outdoor parties. Esoteric literature and anthropology literature, like Joseph Campbell, Graham Hancock, Colin Wilson, Ken Wilber, Jung, Prabhupada, Deepak Chopra.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done a grape fast for 9 days, very good for the health. I have practiced 2 hours meditation a day for over 10 years in my twenties, though more relaxed now. I have seen the holiest places in India and the tallest building in the world (then the Taipei 101).
