ABOUT ME

We met while traveling on a company trip in Europe while both working as travel advisors. Monica is American, originally from San Francisco, California and Ben is Australian - originally from Tasmania. After meeting, Monica moved to Australia. We began to plan and save for an adventure around the world. Both passionate for travel and exploring other cultures, it was a dream we were able to realize with each others' help. Once we were done on our (first) big trip, we settled in San Francisco!

Ben is a straight-edge, vegan startup worker while Monica has a love of theater, dance, music and all things water! Both of us are avid hikers and love getting out in the wilderness. Before we further our education we are interested in gaining a global perspective and learning more about ourselves - our values, interests, and passions - through travel!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are keen to host travelers from around the world and hope to utilize the CouchSurfing network as we travel. We also like to stay involved with the CouchSurfing community and contribute when we can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

BEN: I had known about CouchSurfing for a while, but only signed up when I found myself heading for Shanghai with very little money and no accommodation! I didn't end up using CouchSurfing for that trip, but it got me passionate about the possibilities! Now back in Melbourne, I'm able to host others with similar interests and values.

MONICA: I have known about CouchSurfing since 2007 when my house hosted a traveler for about a week. While traveling through Europe in 2009 I met others who had positive experiences, though I never participated myself. The trip Ben and I just finished was a good opportunity for me (and us) to get more involved!
