ABOUT ME

MOVING RIGHT NOW: will be in Berlin, Germany starting November and update Profile when I can send the new address for verification. Have to find a place to live first. :))

I like to read and write, so you might call me intellectual.

I also like to live rather minimalistically with not much belongings especially not material ones. Reuse, refuse, repair, recycle. ;-) Somehow part of this is being vegetarian and even vegan as much as is practical.

I like to do creative things, I invent things, write a lot. I generally spend a lot of time alone and that's why I am a little picky about the people I hang out with. I like most people, but I love and admire only a few. And I can be quite emphatic and be a good listener.

I've not traveled much, but I lived in many countries and have many friends abroad. I lived in dorms or shared apartments for most of my life, but currently I live alone, waiting for my girl friend to move here in a few months. So it's the perfect time to open the couch to some strangers!

PHILOSOPHY

Please don't laugh at me: I honestly believe that the world can be saved, that we can have peace in every country, everybody gets enough to eat, and people don't hurt each other or other transient beings. I don't know how long it will take, but I am happy to work towards that goal, even if it's just a tiny contribution.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've lived in different countries, I've visited friends abroad, been on business trips... and never had occasion to find a couch via this site.

But I've hosted and that was fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

There's this book called "Search Inside Yourself". I read it to climb out of a depression and then it made me happier than I even thought I could be.

Other favorite is "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" -- it's a free book, but better than any of the original and hyped Harry Potter stories. It's a book you can actually learn from. :-) For the more scientific view of the topic, I can recommend "Thinking fast and thinking slow"... to me this is proof that meditation is needed for people to know what they really want, because what we think we want is too much jaded, biased, influenced, ...

The last psychology book I read was "Authentic Happiness" -- very thrilling at first, but leaving lots of open questions at the end.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i've seen the peanut and taro fields in Taiwan. very simple sight, but I always think of it, when I eat: that's where the delicious stuff comes from :-D

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to teach anything I know, because I like teaching a lot! I mostly like to talk about meditation, veganism, happiness and goal-setting, bicycle repairs and all that stuff, but I know a lot about computers, too. :-)
