About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To set myself up here in Barcelona.

ABOUT ME

The year was 1984 and the severity of the winter almost seemed to mirror the way in which I was belatedly and unceremoniously queefed into being. My (de?)formative years were mostly spent in the dales of Derbyshire, land of the sixth toe, where the men are men and the sheep are nervous. This harsh existence forged me into the maladjusted creature you see before you today.

It wasn't until my mid 20's that the outside world, with its talk of kompooters, vol au vents and something called the tinternet drew me out from the humble homestead of my beginnings.

Nowadays I wander nomadically from place to place performing degrading acts and exhibiting myself publicly in the hope of raising enough silver pieces to get me home and perhaps buy a new pinafore for mother. Oh how she suffers when I'm away.....

PHILOSOPHY

It's tempting to quote somebody here. Fuck it, yeah a quote will save me having to think to deeply about what the hell I'm doing....
"I got a lust for life" - Iggy Pop

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By getting involved! Meeting people, taking them in. Generally acting up and having a good time. I get the guitar involved as much as possible. Parties are better that way.....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been to lots of weekly and monthly meetings organised by the good people of the Bratislava and Barcelona couch surfing communities! I host people whenever I can and try to show them the best of British hospitality (I make them a cup of tea and talk endlessly about cricket while they glaze over and stare into space). My CSers and I have done all kinds of things, been out hiking, strolled around the city, found ourselves at weird student parties (there is no weirder place then the halls of residence in Bratislava), drunk too much beer and coffee (usually seperated by a night's sleep) fallen asleep on night buses.... am I selling this to you?

Interests

I love mushrooms. I love everything about them. Looking for them, picking them, identifying them, eating them. Did I mention I love mushrooms? I'm not IN love with them though, that'd be weird.

My second love, not that they're in order, just the order I wrote them in just now, is the guitar! Busking makes me incredibly happy and pays for my beers of an evening. I love to make up songs, sing great songs and just the whole experience that goes with it.

Also love the outdoors generally, hiking, sledging, playing a bit of frisbee, looking for mushrooms.... ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh man.... here goes....

Authors:
Phillip K Dick, William Burroughs, Jean Paul Sartre, George Orwell, Herman Hesse, William Kotzwinkle, Dr Seuss, Milan Kundera.... that'll do for now.

Films/Directors:
Anything by David Lynch and the Coen brothers. Love the original Star Wars Trilogy. I don't know, I've seen loads but I never remember films.

Music:
A lot of blues, a lot of funk, a lot of rock, a lot of roots. Desert Island disc? "Highway 61 revisited". Never gets shit. Ever!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once got in a national newspaper for playing a concert in Bratislava. Impressive, huh? Not really.... I just lied and told them I was Paul McCartney's nephew. Double page spread. Bingo!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know loads about mushrooms.
I'm pretty handy with a guitar.
I'm not bad at frisbee.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Spain
