ABOUT ME

Hi there traveller!

I'm Robert, I live in Brighton. I'm a open-minded, big hearted young man with a passion for travel, culture, music and LIFE.

I have graduated from doing TEFL and Spanish at University, so I am a qualified English teacher now. But my main work experience over the years has been about helping people - I worked in a nursery (kindergarten) and an old folk's (nursing) home. I like to do things that have a positive impact on other people's lives.

I have done some pretty ambitious trips abroad which I'm proud of and don't ever want to stop. I did the Trans-Siberian from Moscow to Beijing and on to Tibet in 2009 and I have travelled and lived in South America, Japan, the USA, Chile, Spain and Costa Rica.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to host anyone at the moment, I do however attend the weekly CS meetings in Brighton, have done a good language exchange through CS and made some nice friends!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed in Spain, Portugal, Japan and the USA, and only had great experiences so far. I have hosted friends at my place in London (mostly non-CouchSurfers) and enjoy receiving people - I like to cook AND entertain my guests - be warned!

Interests

I just love meeting people, exchanging ideas and bits of our cultures. I think I am an ambassador for mine, so good in fact that I should work for the tourist board and command a good wage.

I like to play drums, guitar and break into song. I am always playing my guitar, I have played in some bands and done my own stuff in concert. I love finding new sounds as I travel the world, so if you have any recommendations of stuff from your area, I'm all ears...

I am really into American music - Blues, Folk, Jazz, Bluegrass - I got so much joy out of travelling in the USA and hearing the real thing.

I had a chat with Thom Yorke, lead singer of Radiohead.

I have touched the ear of the biggest Buddha in the world.

I have witnessed a volcano erupt in Japan.

I have worked in a nursery school AND an old folk's home - which is the kind of amazing that matters!

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach English so thats something I can share with couch-surfers if they want. Beginner guitar too! I like to share my vast music collection, so give me your USB and we'll do a musical/film exchange.
