CURRENT MISSION
Finishing up my PhD!
ABOUT ME
Hmm.. where to start. Well, I like water. The last few years I've been studying it and I truly find it fascinating. It has both the ability to create and destruct life. What I do is trying to enhance it's first aspect and constrain it's second.
Besides water I enjoy traveling, or at least being somewhere new and exciting. Normally I always have a next plan where to go. But in the end, I really love NL and I very much enjoy it to show that to people!
Most of my trip abroad are actually undertaken in the name of science. I love doing research, especially when it involves fieldwork in distant lands! Sightseeing is one thing, but the moment you have to arrange things you really get to know the country.
Curiosity is also something I have an abundance of. I'm very eager to learn new things and skills (new languages, French cuisine, programming, electronics, contra dancing).
PHILOSOPHY
Those who ask, will get.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just let me know if you need a place to stay! Although I'm not at home to often, I can always redirect your request to one of my 7 housemates. Generally there's always somebody at home to host you. Our house is quite quirky and somewhat strange, I actually don't know anybody who didn't enjoy staying with us.
Surfing I do very actively. Whatever the purpose of my travels, I always try to find CSers to stay with. For me it is THE way of getting to know a place and acquiring a bit of insight in other cultures. Besides finding out what the 'places to be' of a certain area are, I very much enjoy learning about the small differences. (At what time do people eat? Do they use electric of gas stoves? Which direction does the toilet flush)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In the student house I'm living in many CS come along. They're always more than welcome and most of the time we provide them with a good time (and food)!
As a surfer I've acquired good experiences in Africa, Asia, Europe and the USA. In my opinion it is the way of exploring the world and I can't imagine doing so without it!

Oh and if you like more boring stuff I can give you a lecture on Dutch history.
