About Me

CURRENT MISSION

..to kill a yak from 200 yards away..... with mind bullets.. ಠ_ಠ

ABOUT ME

HELLO! My name is Dev (yes, it's my surname, but that's what all my friends call me).
Generally a very relaxed attitude type; it's the Californian in me. I get along with most people quite easily. I claim no religion and try to stay away from politics, although I tend to have quite liberal views when such conversations are started. I've traveled almost all of Asia, parts of Europe, and Scandinavia alone meeting new friends along the way whom I'm sure I've made somewhat of a respectable impression upon. I'm a non-smoker, but I do enjoy drinks. I adventure the outdoors, and my wanderlust to roam the Earth is never ending!

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live. We have little time on this planet, enjoy as much of it as you can. The world should be traveled and seen by as many people possible; I believe this shapes one's judgement of the world and various cultures with much more of a broad sense of wisdom. I'm also a believer in Karma so the good deeds one does is reflected upon themselves.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm fairly active using CS and spreading the word. I've been using it to connect with new friends I've made along my travels. The communities also help me gain info or insight on new cities I'm exploring.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosted by great people, attended CS meetings, traveled with other CS'rs and would definitely like to host one day.. So far it has been truly an excellent ordeal overall.

Interests

Traveling (of course), camping, trekking, snowboarding, rock climbing, rafting/kayaking, dancing, creative photography, bizarre and surreal art, night clubbing/concert going, eccentric fashion (ie- Japanese gothic rock attire is pure awesomeness), nerding out over video games, dynamic and inspiring or calm and meaningful conversations, adventuring and meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

For movies it varies.. Inception, Se7en, Donnie Darko, Lord of the Rings series, The Book of Eli, The 5th Element, Dark City, The Crow, Matrix series, Watchmen, Training Day, Abre Los Ojos, Gangs of New York, The Dark Knight, Ocean's 11, Resident Evil series, Martyrs, V for Vendetta, UHF, the list can go on and on........... It really depends on the mood.. fantasy, science fiction films I can almost always watch because my mind loves the escape and creationism.. sometimes I prefer disturbing movies that leave an impression on you making you think, other times a mindless action movie or comedy can fit the moment. Least favorite would be romantic comedies such as like You've Got Mail.. or anything with painfully stupid dialogue. :(

For music I enjoy EBM, industrial, rock, metal... as well as hip hop, dubstep, worldly, easy listening instrumentals. If it's one thing traveling teaches you, it's to be open to new kinds of music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

From wandering deserts to exploring caves to trekking jungles to relaxing on beaches to partying until madness, I've seen quite a bit of life. Perhaps the most hypnotic and beautiful sight I have seen is the Aurora Borealis in Alaska, whilst gazing from a jacuzzi on an outer deck of a cruise ship.. that one has been hard to top!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
