About Me

ABOUT ME

I am trying to fully inhabit the space of my life, and be a good ancestor in the process.

PHILOSOPHY

It only takes a small cloud, to block out the Sun. It's all a matter of perception.
Sometimes you just need to observe from a different angle to see how small a problem can be in the grand scheme of things. Though it may be difficult to see, the light of the Sun is always there.

I don't have a lot of unflexing "beliefs" that cannot be swayed, and I think it's important to view things from an objective standpoint before you come to any conclusions. It's gotten me a long way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed on many a couch in my day. My CS interactions have each been unique, interesting and enjoyable, so I'm always happy for another encounter with this community. I greatly value the experiences I've had through this platform.

Interests

Anything outside - snowboarding, hiking, biking, enjoying beauty. Climbing things. Trees, rocks, scaling urban structures, you know. Vintage motorcycles. Environmentalism. Ecology. Conservation. Woodworking. Music is a big one - collecting, listening, writing about, attending concerts, spinning on my weekly radio program, etc.
Also creative toils, like producing and distributing art, writing... Just learning about a wide variety of subjects on my own time is a very accomplishing feeling. Being away from school has actually energized me to seek knowledge more actively, so the last 5-6 years have been a massive period of education and growth.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots of books in my life. Usually have a novel as well as at least two or three non-fiction books open at a given time. "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts might be my favorite piece of media in general. Besides that, I prefer intelligent, well-crafted movies that eschew common formulas and music that does the same. Genres don't really matter. I could talk about music for days, so let's save that for later.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Out of all the traveling I've done, one of my favorite trips has to be a motorcycle adventure through the American West in 2014. I made a video about it that you can find here: https://vimeo.com/114522237

Teach, Learn, Share

I truly enjoy teaching and just imparting knowledge unto others, and I've been able to learn this first-hand. In the past year, I've designed the curriculum and taught two separate courses at my former high school - one on the history of Afro-Beat and African Funk, and its influence on Western musical styles, and the the other on the history of Street Art & Graffiti around the world. I truly take pleasure in sharing everything I can with anyone who can extract their own value from it. As much as I love music I still can't play instruments for shit - which is weird - so I'd lve some help with that.
...Or teach me how to surf and we're friends forever.
