关于我

UPDATE 2022: Hey everyone, I stopped being on CS when they started requiring a monthly payment. Unfortunately CS still allowed people to send me requests without letting me answer them, so I paid for a month just to come on and put this disclaimer here! Had some great times with CS in the past, so who knows, maybe I'll return at some point if the community's still alive - but for now, consider my profile paused.

I grew up in Norway, then went to Austria to study, finished my studies, went away for a bit, came back, got lost, am now probably studying again, but all of that is not so important.
I spend my days learning languages, singing, internetting, playing music, reading, googling the solutions to any and all of my problems, dancing and daydreaming about conversations with strangers.

-----------------------

Hola! Soy Elisabeth.

Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is brilliant, mainly because it's a platform that makes it so much easier to connect with other people in a new place.

The interesting thing about travelling, to me, is not really the places I visit, but rather the people I meet there, getting an idea of their ideas and habits and ways of being. As a tourist in a hostel, I'd feel like I'm only ever seeing the surface of things, while when staying with a local, it's like I get a glimpse of the inside. It feels kind of trite to be writing this here, as it's a thought that probably at least half of courchsurfers express at some point or other, but what can you do - it's true.

Me encanta viajar.

I used to spend most of my spare time doing this sport that's basically a mix of dancing and gymnastics on horseback (it's called vaulting) for about 12 years, and since I had to quit due to a wrist issue, I've not quite found something to entirely replace it yet. Music is well on its way to achieving the label of my "main hobby" though - I always liked singing, but it's only in the past couple of years that I started singing for people, sometimes as a street musician, lately even on stages occasionally. I very recently finished my first original songs and really hope I'll be able to finish a few more - there's just a lot of stuff I'd like to be able to express in music.

In case you're interested, the duo that I'm currently singing in is called Even If and can be found at www.facebook.com/evenifduo, and I used to record some rough covers of just me singing at home on soundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/lillelissa

Other than that, I very much enjoy dancing (though don't do it very often recently), going for walks, sitting in coffee shops and reading or writing, having conversations devoid of small talk and learning new things. I recently learned how to ride the unicycle and am excited about that!

Oh, and learning languages is something I think is fun. At the moment I'm mostly focused on ironing out some imperfections in my German, but I sort of low-key started picking up Russian on the side lately.

Honestly I'm amazed by stuff pretty frequently. I'm easily fascinated, even just by little everyday things. If I'm going to pick one concrete thing though, here's one off the top of my mind:

I used to only ever play the guitar/sing by myself - I taught myself through the internet when I was a teen and just played in my room with the door closed (partly out of shyness, partly out of fear of disturbing anybody). After this party a while back though, somebody told me to play something for them, and I ended up playing for something like an hour for a group of people. They just told me to keep going and seemed to really enjoy it, and I was somewhat bewildered but very happy about it! I think that kind of flipped a switch in my brain when it comes to doing music stuff for others.

I like learning and teaching languages. If you want to learn any of the languages I speak, or feel like teaching me something, let me know! :) I'm also up for learning any kind of dance, or cooking, or mostly anything you feel like teaching, really. Try me!

Apart from that, I can teach the very basics of playing guitar (chords, and reading tabs), and would also like to learn more from somebody more skilled at guitar playing than I am.

I suppose I could teach some basic gymnastics too, and vaulting, of course - though you'd have to provide the horse...
