About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Welcoming Spanish speakers to help teach my sons (3 and 6).

ABOUT ME

I am relaxed, laid-back. I enjoy talking to people and learning about everything! I also enjoy cooking and miss having a kitchen when on the road.

I love blues music, football and travelling. I ride motorbikes (slowly) and i'm learning Spanish. It would be great to host Spanish speakers so that my two sons (3 and 6) can learn.

My friends would say something rude about my beard!

I sometimes get carried away with ideas. I'm trustee for a charity in Malawi that has built 4 libraries and the largest sports facility in Malawi. It happened because before I knew what I was doing I started! I want to get involved and try everything at least once!

I hope to be a bad/good influence and encourage everyone to quit their jobs and go travelling!

I recently came back from a week in Cuba and a week in The Gambia. The last big trip was across Russia to Mongolia on motorbikes and then round South America in a terrible VW Kombi.

PHILOSOPHY

Let's all just be nice to each other

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently living in the UK in Colchester. After many brilliant couch surfing experiences as guests my wife and I would like to host Spanish speakers as it would be a great experience for our two sons.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with a number of incredible people through couchsurfing. I love it. People are so kind and generous and I love to learn more about everyone.

Interests

I run a small charity in Malawi called Building Malawi (www.buildingmalawi.com). The charity builds libraries, schools and sports facilities in Malawi. I'm really into football and cooking exotic meals on the camping stove.

I love motorbiking as a way to travel but am scared of riding fast and can't do even the most basic mechanics! That being said I have managed to ride to India from the UK before and from UK to Mongolia.

People? Is that too general an interest? People are pretty fascinating if you ask me! I'd like to meet some more!

Soccer! I hate calling it soccer... It's football! I'm an FA level 3 football coach and have worked in the USA, England and Malawi. I have coached the Malawi national team and England striker Andy Carroll. Football is so much more than just a game!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I coached the Malawi national football team (for a week!)
I have motorbiked from the UK to India
I have motorbiked from UK to Mongolia
I have set up a charity called Building Malawi
I ran the Rome Marathon
I travelled around South America in an unreliable VW Kombi

I loved Iran. The people were so incredibly friendly - it was completely different to what i'd expected.

I loved India. There is nowhere in the world that I have found that is quite as crazy!

I loved the hospitality of people in USA. I also spent a few summers in the USA coaching soccer. Again, I met so many wonderful people.

The winner... Nowhere has quite captured me like Malawi has. Sublime! Or maybe Mongolia. Or Cuba. Haha. Everywhere!
