About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Look left, right, and left again...

ABOUT ME

If I think that it will lead to a great story, I will say yes to almost anything. I think that this trait probably says everything that you need to know about me. The result is that i have traveled (ended up in)a lot of less conventional places, have done some rather random jobs, and, have a lot of stories.

In my real life, I write food reviews, go to comedy gigs, cook for anyone and everyone, participate in stupidly long events without training properly, read a lot of great books, and a lot of terrible books in the hope that soon i can start a group that performs hilariously bad literature.

I grew up in the bush, but I can't drive.

PHILOSOPHY

It's not about you (and by you, I mean me, but for you, you would also say me, so it's not about you either, see?)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have slept on floors, couches, lilos and beds. I have eaten home cooking, been to secret bars, hitch hiked across europe and walked across Spain with the generosity, encouragement and jokes of CS hosts spurring me on. Time to pay the piper!

I'm back in Melbourne, and whilst we can't often host, I CAN take people to eat at gourmet restaurants for free! I'm a restaurant critic, and i get a plus one to most reviews I do. So, if you're a foodie and have been eating beans on toast, give me a yell, and i can send you somewhere awesome, and maybe take you with me on a freebie.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Until I found the website, I didn't have a name for my habit of befriending strangers in strange lands and accepting offers of accommodation in their house/flat/goat farm. This is MUCH easier! Love it.

Interests

Cycling, flash mobbing, getting my feet, hands and face dirty, watching character based documentaries, cooking, writing, climing to the top of things and having a beer at the summit of said mountain/roof/water tank, yoga, running and horse riding. I also like dogs, but I don't think that counts as an interest.

Books: Jitterbug perfume and most of Tom Robbins other work, The Alchemist, 101 things that bogans love, Love in the time of Cholera, Guns, germs and steel, Like water for chocolate...

Music: i seem to like a lot of whingey men, a lot of old school hip hop, some Belle and Sebastian, Angus and Julia Stone, Simon and Garfunkel, Bjork, Mumford and Sons. George Michael.... My ipod is never safe for hitting shuffle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Impromptu 800 km bike ride from my home town back to Melbourne after christmas last year. I saw several barns. They were lovely.

I just hiked the Camino de Santiago. I put on weight walking 900km. Worth it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a bizarrely large amount about cooking, comedy and horses. And hula hooping.

Countries I’ve Visited
