ABOUT US
We left germany with the idea of travelling all the way from Alaska down to Patagonia and many other dreams and crazy ideas. Will see how that goes...
So far we have taken the first steps of buying a truck camper in Vancouver, spending the winter with huskies and a bit of skiing in the rockies and driving up through the Yukon in a beautiful winter wonderland. We hiked/snowshoed the Chilkoot trail in winterconditions, watched eagles, sea lions, buffalos, moose and bears wonder about, wintercamped by a glacier, watched a full moon and sunrise over Denali, paddled 2 weeks on the Yukon River, hiked many miles in the Canadian Rockies and scrambled up a 3000m mountain. Now we are looking forward to exploring the US westcoast.

We meet already in high school but went seperate ways after that. Linda is an avid traveller who explored Asia, NZ and OZ on her last 5year trip. Roland worked in different international project, startet his own business in Brazil and went on several road trips across europe.
Finally our paths crossed again back home in Berlin and when the travel blues got too bad we decided its time to hit the road again and start our next adventure together.

We are relaxed, open minded, curious, enthusiastic people who like to discover everything beyond the horizon. Meeting nice people along the way, laughing and chatting together is as great as enjoying quiet moments in the nature alone and we love adventurous times as much as lazy hanging out in a place to soak up all the details of every day life.
We are not so much party animals but more happy to share a good conversation, nice food, outdoor activities, a cultural event, sightseeing, a movie night, a phototour.... with interesting people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Discovered couchsurfing as a surfer in asia when I wanted to meet locals/expats and get to know the country beyond the guesthouse/bus/tuktuk-trail.
I was happy to be able to pay back to the community when I offered my van for hosting in New Zealand and the place where I lived in Tasmania.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

met a movie maker in Laos and learned about french-lao history,
best snorkeling with a divemaster in Thailand,
found a new home for a stray cat via couchsurfing community in Malaysia,
dinning with expats in Laos
lots of help with getting my campervan ready by CSler in NZ
found great hiking buddies in NZ
found lovely friends to share my van with in NZ
hosting and meeting lovely people while living in Tasmania

Interests

LINDA: sustainable tourism, nature, outdoor sports, different cultures traditions religions, good food, books, photography, all things beautiful, spending relaxed time with friends, feel free, go beyond, ask too many questions

ROLAND: technology, world affairs and politics, economy, psychology, to sum it up - the hidden rules and laws of life e.g. how things work, movies, a bit of surfing and adventure sports, learning new things

We like to travel off the beaten track, take plenty of time to explore, get in touch with locals, travel light and responsible...

Music, Movies, and Books

Linda loves books especially about traveling and other countries.
Roland is a movies enthusiast beginning with classics like the movies of Stanley Kubrick to modern movies like "The dark knight".
Music is just the old classics of rock and pop I guess. Roland is learning to play the guitar and Linda loves the soundtrack of "Into the wild".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

soooooo much....
beautiful sunrises on mountaintops, hiking thousends of Kilometer, surfing in Brasil, a night in the desert, holy Varanasi, climbing pyramids in the jungle of Mexico, riding dirtroads in the jungle of cambodia+laos, getting stuck hitchhiking in the desert and getting a ride on a plane, holy rats and fake monks, sweating in a maya sauna, dining with a maharaja, night watch on a sailing boat under endless stars, abseiling a waterfall, working with elephants, falling in love with incredible green ricefields and teaplantations, spending many nights in lonely backcounty huts, meeting great people .........

Teach, Learn, Share

Linda is passionate about sustainable tourism, travelling and outdoors so there are some stories to share.
Roland enjoys to talk about politics/ economy and is always up for anything that involves an engine.
Mhh what else?
We also like cooking together, can teach you german, can spoil your pets and help around the house. Linda loves gardening and Roland can fix stuff.

We always love to learn about everything that makes a culture/region/person special. If you want you could show us around your place, take us along to the things you do in your free time, tell us something about your way of life or your favorite topic or just tell us some stories about your life.
Currently we also want to learn everything about the northern lifestyle, life in the wilderness, outdoors, winter sports etc. And Linda would like to improve her photography knowledge and kayak right infront of a glacier. Roland wants to get into fishing and is considering to get a pilot licence.
And a longterm dream is to sail across the atlantic or pazific one day....
