ABOUT ME

I am a college studnet in UC Berkeley. To be more specific, I am an international Chinese student. I have only been in the U.S. for one year and I choose to go to universities in the U.S. because there are no good universities in China. Our best university in China ranks 30+ worldwide. It is well-known that students in China have hard life and it is true. I used to go to school at 7 a.m. and go home at 9 p.m.--which sacked a lot. The major problem was that I was not able to do what I wanted when I was in high school. All my precious time was dedicated to the endless, boring homework. Fortunately, I made the choice to go to college in the U.S.. Although it was difficult at first, I find college education in the U.S. is just designed for me. I CAN DO WHATEVER I DREAMED OF WITHOUT RESTRICTIONS!!! I choose whatever courses I am interested in and I am trying to do an economics major with an interdisciplinary study field major. The ISF major is basically to create a major yourself. I love freedom and I believe we should go wherever our heart takes us. I am now doing an economics major, but I am really not sure what I would do in the future. I have been seriously considering doing NGOs, such as microfinancing institutes like wokai.org in China. I love traveling because I always find something interesting during my travels. Such as wine in France is priced the same as water; when the Italian government gets confused, it usually just stays in confusion; and the ancient Greek architecture has a lot in common with the ancient Chinese architecture--which means that the world might be totally different from what we know.

PHILOSOPHY

I am young and I should do whatever I dream of without thinking too much about jobs and wages.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I was planning for my summer travel, I found out hotels in the old continent was so expensive. However, I still wanted to travel. My friend Angela Zhu introduced couchsurfing to me. She travelled 6 weeks in southeast Asia and only paid 6 nights. I was definitely hooked and wanted to check it out.

Something to share:
If you come up with a really exciting and excellent idea when you are lying in bed one night, you should get up and implement it to the extent that you will be forced to continute it when you wake up in the morning. We have some many great ideas when we lie in bed before we fall asleep. However, we always think it is not practical or whatever when we get up in the morning because again we have to face either our homework or work--which is really sad. We will live up to ten times as great as ourselves if we try to implement parts of our ideas instead of letting ourselves fall asleep.
