About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To never have a dull moment!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Los Angeles, basking in its sunshine and smog, and enjoying my childhood as a vegetarian, basketball loving, anti-car teenager. I moved to Nor-Cal and attended UC Berkeley, graduating with a B.S. Environmental Science. While I hope to attend graduate school in the future, I'm enjoying my time as a wandering, nomadic technician and traveler.

My mom makes craft cocktails (deadly but delicious) and my sister studies film. I'm left handed and have asymmetric thumbs. My hair is thicker than a bear's and I haven't completely shaven my beard off in about 2 years.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is an adventure! Can't change the cards dealt to you, so make the best hand possible! Really! Also: respect others and do what makes you happy. I try to keep things simple.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By going for it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've slept on a many couches but never hosted or surfed.... In fact, I slept on concrete benches and sidewalks too. I also sleep like a tank, when the body wants to sleep, the body will sleep.

Interests

I'm all about the B's. Beers, basketball, buses (VW), biogeochemistry, and beards. On a more serious note, I almost up for anything. You can't make experiences/memories/interests by thinking about them, just have to go for it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I really wish I read more.
Fiction: American lit like Invisible Man or Empire Falls are always classics.
Nonfiction: science, travel, culture. I enjoy reading books about the industrial food system.

Music: Folk-rock, world, hip-hop. The works.

Movies:I'm into terrible, campy B-movies and noir?. Specifically, I'm a (former) horror junkie. Top 5 includes Troll 2, Birdemic, Dead or Alive, etc... I'm not much into TV but like Seinfeld? Commercials are the death of me...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sites: Maachu Picchu, Redwood forests, Frank Joyce.

Done: run out of money at Honduras/Nicaragua border. Frequented a strip mall bar in Tennessee called Brewskis. Cookouts in Tennessee. Grand Canyon. Black Canyon of the Gunnisson. Showered with horseflies in Costa Rican tropical forest. Lived in a field station in a Puerto Rican tropical forest. Hiked in the Slovakian mountains with only a pair shorts. Walked hundreds of miles to a gazillion places!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know about carbon and nitrogen cycling (biogeochemical cycling). I have knowledge about VW buses and beers. I can also do cartwheels, especially in streets. If you're planning on visiting National Parks in the US, I can tell you a little something about that too.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Hungary, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Poland, Slovakia

Countries I’ve Lived In

Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, United States
