ABOUT ME

I never know what to put in these 'describe yourself' boxes. If I talk about how nice, awesome and sexy I am (which I totally am) I feel like I come across as egotistical. If I don't say nice things about me here... well, who wants to get to know someone who's description is just a shrug and a dismissive 'meh'?

I guess the phrase "Simple mind, simple pleasure" describes me best. No, wait, scratch that, I'll tell you something that makes me seem smarter.

I read a lot whenever I have the chance, play guitar (would love to do a jam session with all you musical couchsurfers!), juggle (are juggle-sessions a thing? If not, let's make it a thing), and enjoy doing things with fun people. When you're with truly fun people it doesn't even matter what the things are. Oh, and if you're a prospective surfer, here's the "codeword" I look for in the applications: make me feel better about my hemorrhoids in your couch request if you've read my entire profile. If you don't, I'll dismiss your application with an excuse regarding my hemorrhoids. In other news, it's always nice to hang out with fun people =)

PHILOSOPHY

Do anything and everything that makes you happy; so long as it doesn't hurt anybody else, it must be a good thing.

Enjoy today in such a way that you can also enjoy tomorrow.

Everyone smiles in the same language. Wear a smile: I'm sure it looks good on you!

You can't be best at everything, but you can damn sure be good at anything.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Most smiles are started by another smile. Let's start a wave!

Life is too short for matching socks.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted in Iceland and I've gone to many CS events in Montréal, which are LOADS of fun. I've done loads of surfing whilst hitchhiking through the States and had a great time!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosting, surfing, events - it's all great with a community as wonderful as CouchSurfing!

Interests

Smiling. My single favourite thing. So tell me if I've got something stuck between my teeth. I also like music (who doesn't?), talking, traveling (what a surprise THAT is), and learning about other cultures and people. Also music, playing guitar, juggling, reading, watching good TV and films. All the cool things =P

Learning new stuff. Whether it's knowledge, skills, culture, languages, whatever-learning new things is the greatest thing I know.

Milk chocolate. Strawberries. I don't know if that can count as interests, but if I could eat chocolate and strawberries as a hobby, I would. Hell, I'd break out of the hobby circles and go pro.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Beatles, Queen, Boyce Avenue, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, songs from the classic Disney movies, Damien Rice, Múgsefjun, Baggalútur and a billion others that don't pop straight into my head.

Movies: oh, so many. Almost all (and absolutely all the classic) Disney movies, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, anything from the collaboration of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, and most block-busters/popular movies of the last decade or so.

Books: Forgive me, O Gods of Literature, for my forgetful omissions from this list. The Discworld Series, by Terry Pratchett (yes, the entire damn thing); To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee; The Kingkiller Chronicles, by Patrick Rothfuss and more, so many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Chilled with some monkeys one rainy afternoon in a monkey reserve in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Little buggers just loved to climb me. ...That sounded less dirty in my head...

Paragliding in Baños under the shadow of the Tungurahua volcano was enrapturing. 'Nuff said.

Snorkeling with sharks and manta-rays in Galápagos, Ecuador.

Hitchhiked through the East coast of the States from Canada to Florida.

Slept in the playpen of a 24-hour McDonald's.

Got to experience a wonderful Thanksgiving with some wonderful people through CouchSurfing.

Danced in the (torrential) rain. Danced in public. Quite a liberating thing to do, dancing wherever.

Juggled fire with some nice juggling CouchSurfers in Gainesville, Florida.

Saw the beauty of Pamukkale in Turkey.

Read Le petit prince in the original language.

Teach, Learn, Share

Juggling: anybody can learn the basics in a half hour. Honest.
Guitar: jam sessions are one of my favourite things.
Languages: if by some freak chance you're interested in learning Icelandic I can definitely help with that. I could also teach English and Spanish, and I would love you forever for helping me with my French =P Please?

Countries I’ve Visited

Morocco, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, Ecuador, Iceland
