About Me

CURRENT MISSION

At this moment in my life, my energy is going toward learning as much as I can in order to actively use this knowledge to bring my vision to reality!

ABOUT ME

I like to think, laugh, talk, and play. I like to go on adventures. I like to be healthy. I want to show people happiness is attainable. I'm figuring out how to live my passions. I live just outside of a small arts town in Kentucky on 200 beautiful acres in the Clear Creek valley. I live in a small community of awesome folks and we're starting some big projects - food forest, gardens, retreat center. I'm really looking to visit places with similar goals and projects to see what works and how! I teach yoga and am also interested in learning more about therapeutic approaches for deep healing. Yoga, massage, bodywork, energy healing, want to delve ever deeper into it all!

PHILOSOPHY

I really believe in living simply - I don't need stuff, just good people, good food, and good work. I have pretty strong values around eating local, seasonal food, preferably home grown, and really minimizing my use of extractive resources (I have a long ways to go on this one!). For me, it really is all about connection. I find that being aware of and involved with my community, food, and resource use opens the way for feeling more connected.
I believe in being open to the world, in challenging myself in healthy, productive ways, and reducing stress and anxiety in myself and others. I believe in being as healthy as possible so as to not miss opportunities. I believe in being true to my world, and true to myself. Mostly, I go through my daily life with humor, kindness, and love. I want to show people anything is possible, because I know this to be true.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed quite a lot throughout my travels over the years and it has made my experience so much richer. I've been rather inactive in the past several years, but have hosted here and there as I've been able.

Interests

Living in community, gardening, yoga, fermentation, bookbinding, meditation, writing, reading, books..... Spirituality, hypothetical questions, psychology. Anatomy and science. Teaching yoga and offering healing. Finding answers, understanding myself and the world. Hiking, camping, being outdoors. Natural building and off grid living. Card and board games. Travel, of course. Hiking, climbing, swimming, watching sunsets.... I mean, I have a lot of interests!

Music, Movies, and Books

Lets see. Led Zeppelin will always be on this list. Lots of different folk. I'm not great at talking about music, but am openminded.
Books - this could be an endless list... I'm mostly into nonfiction at the moment, I'm reading a book about the nature of time.. I like documentary style books like An Omnivores Dilemma and An Ecopragmatist Manifesto (and anything else related to Stewart Brand), and general fiction. My recent kicks include Spanish literature, books about gardening/plants/permaculture. I read incessantly, so tell me your favorites!
Movies - I'm not super into movies, but can get into anything that's not violent or gory.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen cloud shadows pass across countless beautiful mountains and forests
Lived in the same area as herds of bison and elk
Hitchhiked through 18 countries
Stood on a mountain and felt the breeze on my face

Teach, Learn, Share

Gardening, yoga, bodywork, cooking, fermentation. I'd love to teach, learn and share anything on my interests list and whatever else someone feels like sharing!
I'm particularly interested in learning more about permaculture and running retreat centers. So much!!
