Hello CouchSurfing World,

The name is Andres, I am 32 years old, and I have been using CouchSurfing since 2011. You could say I am a well seasoned couchsurfer. A few words to describe myself: Adventurous, adrenaline junkie, and an introverted extrovert. As of the time of this post, I have visited 86 countries around the world, to include 49 out of the 50 US states .

A little bit more about me: I was born in Colombia 🇨🇴 , but have lived in the United States of America 🇺🇸 my whole life. I do speak both English and Spanish. I strive to expand my knowledge through my travels. I think traveling is a great way to open one’s mind to different cultures and ways of life. I have also meet a lot of great people and will continue to do so as I move around the world. Although I do not surf at other people’s houses as often as I used to, I still use the “hang out” feature to meet local travelers. Additionally, I still maintain the mentality of hosting travelers that come through my area. Feel free to reach out if you’re coming through.

FOR POTENTIAL SURFERS:

If my profile states I am accepting guests, please read my “Home” 🏡 section of my profile prior to sending a request. Also, please add some “personality” to your request versus sending me a cookie cutter (aka generic) message 🙃.

I do take everyone’s health seriously. For your peace of mind, I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and do keep up with annual boosters.

2021 UPDATE:

I took a year off from work at the beginning of 2021. Since then, I traveled non-stop and met a lot of wonderful people. These are my biggest accomplishments for the year:

- Went on a three (3) month road-trip around the United States of America on my brand new Tesla Model 3 and was able to visit 44 states. I drove a total of 15,000 miles around the country. 🚙 🗺️ 📍

- Hiked El Camino de Santiago, Spain. Walked over 500 miles in 34 days (from St Jean Pied de Port, France to Santiago, Spain). 🇪🇸 ⛰️ 🎒

- Visited Costa Rica, Spain, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Greece, US Virgin Islands, St Marteen (Dutch and French side).

- Went on a week long cruise 🚢 around the Caribbean.

On 31 December 2021, I turned 30, so you could say that I ended my twenties with a bang!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why I'm on Couchsurfing? That's actually a pretty good question. I found out about CouchSurfing back in 2011.
I have to admit that I was very hesitant and nervous about surfing at other people's houses. But when I had my first experience in Lima Peru, I was hooked. For me, CouchSurfing is more than free accommodations. It is a way to explore different cultures and a great way to make friends. Friends that I wouldn't have made if I had travel the regular way and stayed at hotels/airbnbs. I believe that CouchSurfing can have a great impact on people's lives and perspective. It is a way to push people out of their comfort zone. It is a way to see the world through other people's eyes. I see myself using this site for the rest of my life, either by offering my house to other people, or surfing while I travel the world.

Interests

I love to travel. I travel as often as I can. If I could, I would travel 24/7, 365 days of the year.

Teach, Learn, Share

I found this quote a long time ago. I read it often to remind myself of what I believe travel truly is:

🟢“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”🟢
