About Me

NOTE: EMERGENCY ACCOMMODATION (IF YOU ARE IN DANGER) IS AVAILABLE. CALL OR TEXT 0438503030

I'm a tallish, heavy-set dude from Australia. I grew up on the beaches of this sunny land, but my skin is bleached pasty from my true passion, which is technology.

Technology is the key, I think, to solving the worlds problems. It's not a blanket fix, but it's certainly a step in the right direction towards goals like universal education and organisational transparency.

I love the outdoors as well, and I spent years in the scouting movement. People have often expressed some confusion about how someone who grew up on the beach and spent a life mostly outdoors can end up so cuddly. Well, the answer is simple.

Food. I'll make no excuses, because I usually eat what I make, and I make good food. People say variety is the spice of life. I humbly disagree. Spice is the spice of life, because food IS life. When you meet with friends, you drink coffee or have dinner. You celebrate a wedding with a cake. You welcome new neighbors with a plate. It's food that brings us together. It's for this reason I love cooking.

I really believe that if you be nice to people, they'll probably be nice back :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to meet new people from all walks of life, to share a drink, a smoke or some food. To hear the stories and tales of travelers from far and wide.

I love to travel, but at this point in my life, I am focusing on my career. Couchsurfing helps keep the wanderlust at bay by allowing me to spend time with people of all different cultures and experience little bits of the world - all without leaving my house!

Interests

I spent years in scouting. I've also been involved in the fights against poverty and climate change.

I'm really interested in the development of AI and machine learning, as well as quantum computing and some other really nerdy mumbo-jumbo. Basically if it blinks, whirs or clicks I get my kicks!

Music, Movies, and Books

Robert Ludlum. David Baldacci. Matthew Riley. Eoin Colfer. Sherlock. Dracula.

I read a lot, but my tastes never really developed past fiction. Way too much fun!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The sheer scale of Beijing.

Seeing Hong Kong empty.

Blooped (punched) a shark in the nose.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people basic I.T skills, as well as more conceptual fundamentals of networking and internet architecture. To boot, I can probably go deeper into things like electronic theory and touch base on simply physics and math.

English I can teach. Syntax, Grammar, Lexicon. I might sound like a typical bogan but I have a firm grasp of not just the how of the language, but the why.

Cooking! I love to cook! I would love to teach someone what I know! I would love to be taught what you know! Yay!

I really want to learn Mandarin and chinese language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food. Sleeping areas. Cooking. Conversation. Beer. Music.

What else do you need?

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, China, Indonesia, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
