About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning.

ABOUT ME

I love seeing what would be a perfect photograph and imagining my eyes to be a camera. I've been playing music since I was five. I'm open to improvisation- if you want to jam, let's jam. I study literature/creative writing and philosophy, and I read day in day out. My favorite book changes the more I read, but for short stories Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor is indispensable, 1984 by George Orwell made me love English class, and Shaq Uncut: Tall Tales and Untold Stories is Shaq's autobiography, which I read once. I love eating apples and almonds at the same time.

I am independent and I love adventure. I want to become a photojournalist. I have lived in Florida my whole life. I hope to teach in South Korea after college.

PHILOSOPHY

Let's get so wrapped up we forget about the time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Authors in no particular order: John Berryman, Mary Shelley, Kurt Vonnegut, Ernest Hemingway, Flannery O'Connor, Thomas Pynchon, Allan Watts, David Foster Wallace, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Mark Twain, Hunter S. Thompson, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, John Steinbeck, Charles Bukowski, George Orwell, Dave Eggers.

I like documentaries and comedies the best.

I've been playing music since I can remember. Everything from underground hip hop to lo fi, punk to classical, emo to flamenco, jazz to surf rock. Although I consider myself knowledgeable about music, I have an open mind. I tend to really like bands in niches usually reserved for people who listen only to that kind of band. I love listening to Boards of Canada, Built to Spill, Tycho, MF Doom, American Football, Bear vs. Shark, Miles Davis, Nas' Illmatic, DJ Shadow, The Mercury Program, Thelonious Monk, Parliament, Deadmau5, Outkast, Cap'n Jazz, and on and on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A school of killer whales racing alongside the boat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach drums (with hands, if necessary), guitar, beginner Italian, recipes for falafel, sweet potato fries/stew, guacamole, and curry. I can also talk about literature, philosophy, art, anthropology, politics, religion, and more.

I would like to learn Mandarin, Korean, French, your favorite recipe, how you got to be where you are today and why you get out of bed in the morning.

I am willing to share everything I bring with me.
