About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn and explore, to broaden horizons and reach a fuller understand, spread that learning and to meet new and wonderful people

ABOUT ME

I love food, culture and learning new things. Gastronomy and slow food are points of fascination to me as is good drink. I dabble in music, but spend more time either at the gym or at the dojo.I try to be consistently upbeat and am always looking on the bright side; what else can one do? That doesn't mean I'm one to accept the status quo though. I do have my missions in life to be sure, ask to find those out yourself. I like to meet and chat with new people and I love to enjoy the little things in life because, truth be told, there is nothing "little" at all about the beauty of that which makes this world a wonder.

PHILOSOPHY

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
- Gandhi

"Whoever saves on life saves the world entire."
- Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 4:8

"Talk not of wasted affection; affection never was wasted."
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"It is not necessary that whilst I live I live happily; but it is necessary that so long as I live I should live honorably."
- Immanuel Kant

That pretty much sums things up, the abridged verion: "hakuna matata. it's all good. Cest la vie, so live it well"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel, I talk, I learn, attend meetings when possible, and I share. I'm willing to host when possible, provide information/advice as well as meet up when not. I spread the word of couchsurfing as well as course.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed in a few locations around and have met several different people just to hang out, chat, or go on short adventures together.

Interests

I enjoy the arts, including music, architecture, and especially the culinary ones. Frequent topics of talk and reading for me are social issues, philosophy, religion, and politics. I enjoy working out and I love martial arts with a passion, as my passion. Mountain biking is a great time as well, single-track or just a casual ride to clear the mind. Simple things tend to give me the most pleasure, such as a hot cup of black coffee with a ripe red apple on a crisp fall morning (Can take me out of New England- please- but certain aspect of New England you can't take out of me.) I greatly enjoy spending time with others, be they old friends, or just friends met that afternoon. I like music, play guitar and desktop&pencil drums. I like to cook, make people laugh, food&drink, learning, generally broadening my mind and trying to make life better for all in whatever way I might, even if it's as small as a smile to a stranger.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Too many to list on here, but basically general non-fiction, especially about psychology and business.
Music: Lots and lots, mostly rock, electronic, and metal, but I love me some jazz time to time, or pieces from musicals or any other genre as well, all depends on the mood.
Movies: Again, almost anything, so long as it's not "stupid funny" (i.e. superbad, Napolean Dynamite) and preferably not alone, though I tend to prefer cult/film noir.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched the sunset on Giant's causeway Ireland, listen to the tide roll in Nice France, drank wine at midnight under the Eiffle Tower as it lit up, watched a friend smile with such joy because of the concert we were at, saw another smile because it was the first time I'd seen her in 5 years, had complete strangers become the closest of friends because we were all in the same situation, managed to fit 2 people plus their luggage in a French elevator (if you've ever been to France, you know what a task that is)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach self defense techniques, exercise&stretching routines/techniques, how to play some simple guitar, some recipes, English, French.
I like to learn anything, learning things from field I have no experience in makes me more well rounded anyways.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my enthusiasm for learning and any lessons I might have picked up along the way. I especially enjoy sharing such along with a shared coffee ^^ I can of course also share the chores while I'm being hosted if they like.
