About Me

Well...

A wonderfully Pacific Northwest girl that would probably love to meet you.

As a host and as a guest, I love cooking and serenading you, and I will probably want to go adventuring about with you.

Things I hope will happen: making you laugh, playing my accordion for you, and talking about a variety of things that hopefully interest us, such as: why do certain sea creatures contain bioluminescents? What's log cabin life like? etc.

I have spent several years as a kayaking instructor, working in record stores, and the last year teaching art to elementary students. Now my partner and our sweet but shy service dog are on the move again, hoping to find some work trade opportunities and to see more of the world together.

I often can be found busking with my accordion and curled with a book. Interested in marine biology, fairy tales, mixed media art, dancing, accordion, hiking, climbing, and feeding wanderlust.

These things never really describe who some one is, it's best to just meet me :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosting and surfing from Washington state and from Spain, as well as surfing all over. I spent several years living in Europe as both a surfer and a host.

Interests

sunshine, accordion, harmonium, silly faces, bad jokes, kayaking, "self-sufficiency", hitchhiking, science, hula hooping, traveling, shenanigans, hiking, camping, rock climbing, bouldering, wool socks, big smiles, sewing, log cabins, bodies of water, bicycles, being told "hey! don't climb on that!", talking to strangers, music, good films, dancing, naps, animals, mountains, twirls, curls, grins.

I read a lot, I listen a lot. I am an audiophile, a human rights advocate, and constantly working to better myself and my relationship to the environment around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books/Authors:
Voyage to Arcturus
Woman in the Dunes
The Master and Margarita
Haruki Murakami
Saga (!!!!)
A Confederacy of Dunces
Still Life with Woodpecker
Dune
Richard Brautigan
A long time lover and collector of fairy tales and sci-fi. This list could go on for a while.

I am a pretty hardcore audiophile. I have worked in record stores, DJ'd local radio, and am a major vinyl collector. Lots of Cocteau Twins and Kate Bush (and lately Nitzer Ebb and Brain Ticket)
(traditional, ethereal, experimental, shoegaze, funky, disco, folk, blues, bluegrass, classical, 70s/80s goth, metal, noise, jazz, things to dance and cry and love to...)

Movies, too.
(Akira Kurosawa, Studio Ghibli flicks, Francois Truffant, Terry Gilliam, and on and on).... Also I feel Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, and Stranger things should be tacked on here, too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There is no way to describe bioluminescent plankton (tomopteris) that blooms in the summers where I live. I will go out kayaking at night and the water looks like it has galaxies exploding in it. As you go over eel grass reefs, you can see seals chasing fish because of the streaks of glowing green and gold. It is absolutely incredible. In August, not only does the plankton glow, but there are also constant meteor showers. Kayaking through the glowing wonder while stars are falling all around is kind of AMAZING.

Teach, Learn, Share

Skill exchange is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

I am really good at milking goats, am an art teacher, and have a lot of random knowledge on travel, music, farming, art, crafting, and bread making that I would love to share with you.

My partner and I are currently looking to expand our knowledge of sustainable farming, carpentry, cheese making, and pretty much anything else you want to teach us. We are constant learners.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food, music, stories, book recommendations, and so much more <3
