One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Portugal in 1974-75, Oman in 2001

Panama ,May 2007:

Five days hiking in the very primitive Indian territory to the northeast of Boquete, in Panama, among the Ngbole people, no roads, just isolated villages just reachable on foot. I left most of my stuff in a hostal in David. I do not think I have been treated with so much respect before in my life. Hard conditions, bad food, continually wet, but happy. Maybe it was my greying hair, but people thought I had the answers to all their problems. The people are very poor, but very happy and friendly.
