About Me

Hi I'm Ria.
I live in the present moment and tend to not plan much ahead - I'm likely to be found translating or dancing on my spare time these days.

If you are requesting to stay with me, please check the details of my home first. We have many Do's and Don'ts and limited access to gas, electricity, water and hot shower. Please mention in your request that you're interested in staying on my boat.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe meeting locals is the best way to explore a new place.

Interests

-Zero waste lifestyle (more of "reduced waste" for me)

-Freeganism: hitchhiking, free-cycling, dumpster-diving and maybe table-diving?

-Anti-voluntourism: Speaking from my own experience volunteering in a Nepalese "orphanage", if you're fancying non-permanent volunteering as your next mission, please check the links below and think twice:
...her good intentions were unwittingly feeding an industry that dupes poor parents into sending their children to bogus orphanages in order to extract money from well-meaning foreigners.

-Street dance (house/hiphop/commercial): I used to dance 7 days a week for a few years. I've recently returned to dancing and .

-I've studied macrobiotics, and am a locavour/organivour. I'm always curious about herbal/Chinese medicine and healthy eating.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Buying a liveaboard boat was one of the best things we've done so far in many ways

Teach, Learn, Share

-We can share a weekend on our narrowboat

-I can take you to dumbsterdiving/skipping if any opportunities arise. I wouldn't mind if you are not interested in this kind of activity and hope you don't mind me doing it or FEEDING you with recovered food... don't be scared! You can always say NO.

-I'd love to learn&practice conversational Slovak.
