ABOUT ME

Hi!! My name is Erin Gant and I am a red head who loves to travel around and meet new people. I was born in Florida but have lived most of my life in Atlanta, GA. I consider myself a Southern Peach and love my home. It’s interesting though… because not as many people in my region are called to a traveler’s life like I am. That is one of my favorite things about traveling, coming home and sharing my stories, adventures, pictures, and experiences with my friends and family and the occasional random I meet on the side of the road.  I am fascinated by culture and differences between people. Even within my city here in Atlanta the diversity is astounding. Whether studying abroad, traveling on a mission trip, or living the backpacking life I have loved and cherished every moment and culture I have experienced. I’m one of those go-getter and do-gooder types and try to involve myself in as many things as I can find the time for. I like to get my full experience out of life and have taken a pretty big bite already. My curiosity about the world propels me, and I plan on learning a whole bunch more.

Interests

I spend my time in five major ways…. art, dancing, student programing, sports, and with God. I am creative and love to do art. I am working on a collection now, using mostly paint and collage. I work with teen programing with the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, and am pursuing a career in Student Affairs Administration. I love to play all sports but my favorites are Frisbee and soccer. There is never a moment when I’m not dancing or thinking about dancing. I not very good, but I sure do enjoy it! I am a blessed individual and love spending my time with friends, family, and God!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Three beautiful moments I had in South America happened at the top of a climb. The First and most amazing happened in Patagonia at Torres Del Paine in Chile. We woke up at 5:30 to begin our climb, along with the red fox and the Andean deer we passed on the way up. We hiked around and up the mountains to the towers at the top where we ate our packed lunches admiring the middle of the mountain, a glacier, and the beautiful glacial lake below it. The second was at the top of Huayna Picchu, at Machu Picchu. You spend the entire climb on the ledge looking down the cliffs to valleys and trees below. The path is narrow and unforgiving, and as you reach the top you are touching the sky. You are on the same line as mountains and clouds and you feel accomplished, peaceful, and excited all at the same time. The third was on an airplane, flying from La Paz, Bolivia to Santiago, Chile. With our flight high in the sky, we were able to watch the sunset for 2 hours straight. It was in the middle of my window and I had the perfect view. I had never watched a sunset from that high up. The sky was crystal clear and the ocean below flowed with the current clearly visible. Unbelievable!!!
My favorite place in the entire world I have seen is the south of Spain. I was visiting some friends of mine in Jerez, a town south of Seville by the coast, and was to leave the following night for Madrid. They asked if I had visited Granada and when I said no they booked me a hostel for that night and sent me on my way. If you have ever been to Granada you can agree that the bus system is super confusing and when I finally arrived at my hostel, located on the windiest and bumpiest street in Granada, I was ready to chill. Low and behold my hostel was a tree house with hammocks and barbeque at the ready. A Spanish bachelor party had taken up residence, and ready to practice my Spanish, I sat down at their table. It was a wild night and I made some amazing memories and after many conversations, some great Spanish bbq, and a few drinks, I settled into my triple bunk bed to fall asleep in the Spanish mountains of Granada.
