About Me

**I host women only at the moment due to my current living arrangements. Maximum of 2 nights stay**

Life is about the pursuit of happiness achievable only through knowing oneself. Travel facilitates this journey however painful and difficult the discoveries may be we must accept ourselves in both goodness and disappointment. It is how we grow.

I am a full-time Law student at UCT after completing my undergraduate degree at Stellenbosch University. However, I am not a typical 'lawyer' type person in that I don't take myself very seriously, live spontaneously and love the unknown! Law is only one of the many interests that I have and I hope that my career does not define me (or lead others to misunderstand me).

I have a passion for travel, people and the environment. I love yoga, good books & films and to be outdoors. Red wine & sushi are my absolute favourites (as well as all forms of chocolate and good humour). I am an outgoing person that is comfortable in a crowd, but also needs some 'Lee time' ... quite happy to sit in silence.

FUN FACTS
I am terrible at spelling, but love to read.
I struggle to run, but enjoy being fit.
I eat anything, but tend not to cook.
I love red wine, but hate binge drinkers.
I am clumsy, but meticulous with my work.
I am passionate, but don't show it.
I love to travel, but also love my home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I SURF
First surf was in 2011 in New Zealand and since I try to surf in every country I visit! I believe in connecting with people and sharing local knowledge. It's about the people, not the free accommodation. Since the first experience I have felt it difficult to not incorporate surfing into travel ... whether it be staying with a host or meeting people along the way. Some of my most memorable travel experiences come from the people I have met through CS.

I HOST
I have recently moved into my own apartment in Cape Town CBD and am finally able to host people!

I only host females traveled at the moment. Had some strange situations with men using CS as a dating site & my current apartment is so small I would prefer to share it with other women travelers.

I prefer people aged 19 - 30 years.

Maximum of two people.

I generally only host during the week.

Maximum of 2 nights stay.

Include 'Ubuntu' in your message so I know you have read my profile. It is a South African value which I aspire to embody and I know that CS does too!

It has not exact translation or meaning but very superficially it means ‘humanity to others’. It also means ‘I am what I am because of who we all are’. One meaning of ubuntu is correct behavior, but correct in this sense is defined by a person's relations with other people. Ubuntu refers to behaving well towards others or acting in ways that benefit the community. Such acts could be as simple as helping a stranger in need, or much more complex ways of relating with others.

A person who behaves in these ways has ubuntu. He or she is a full person. For some, ubuntu is something akin to a soul force - an actual metaphysical connection shared between people and which helps us connect to each other. Ubuntu will push one toward selfless acts. There are related words in many sub-Saharan African cultures and languages, and the word ubuntu is now widely known and used outside of South Africa.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Telling somebody that I loved them even when I had no idea if they knew or loved me back.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share all that I know about my beautiful country & it's rich culture. I'm very passionate and love to talk politics. I am very knowledgeable about Cape Town and have traveling much of Africa so can help you with tips! I like to think I'm a great conversationist so I hope to share this with you :)

If I have time I am very happy to show you around and experience things with you. I love rediscovering my own city so your touristy things may be as much of an adventure to me as they are to you!

You are more than welcome to help yourself to anything in my fridge & shelves. I have a washing machine for your dirty clothes & plenty of bedding for you!

If you feel that you want to contribute then you are welcome yo do so. However, I do not expect you to cook for me, bring me gifts or tiptoe around me in any way. You are my guest first and foremost so I would prefer to make sure you are happy and safe above all else.
