About Me

CURRENT MISSION

language learning, traveling, spreading the joy of music and dancing tango

ABOUT ME

I'm a student of music (Jazz) at the university of Mainz in Germany.
I consider myself being kind of a modest, calm person, interested in art, psychology and languages.

Well, I love being around all different kinds of people, sharing experiences and views. And hopefully making some good music whenever possible.

Last year, I've worked on board of Carnival Cruise Lines as a showband musician sailing the Bahamas and the coast of Florida.
After I got off the cruise ship, I spent 6 months living in San Francisco.

PHILOSOPHY

Being calm and focused and living in the present moment.

Or how Charles Bukowski puts it:
-"the laughing heart"-

your life is your life
don't let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can't beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Pretty actively. Going to Couchsurfing events, sleeping on other peoples couches, meeting awesome human beings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The month of August 2012 was such a valuable experience. A good friend of mine and I were traveling down the Highway 1 then flew to Las Vegas and drove into the most beautiful nationalparks and canyons I've seen so far. The people we met during that time were a great influence and inspiration for us. Definitely made some new friends!

Also had a wonderfull time travelling through Switzerland and France. Overall just very good experiences, either surfing or hosting.

Surfing in Montpellier/France, my host, who was from the Réunion Island, introduced me to a musical style called "Maloya", wich is one of the two major music genres of that Island. Fell in love with those sounds and that rhythm!

Interests

Pretty addicted to Tango Argentino at the moment. I also spend a lot of time working on my spanish and my musical projects.

I enjoy watching chinese movies at the moment.
"Chungking Express" was a cool one.

Too many choices, but I love Tom Waits, Avishai Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Danyiel Waro... just to name a few.

Books:

I enjoy reading philosophical and psychological books like "The Power Of Now" or "Effortless Mastery".
"Der Steppenwolf" and "Alexis Sorbas" were awesome as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A silent meditation retreat for 10 days.
10 hours of meditating and silence every day. What a great experience!
