About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life fully

ABOUT ME

I'm not very good talking about myself, but here are some basic facts about me. I was born in Mexico City, but I came to live to Costa Rica with my family in 1992. I'm married to my dear husband Greivin since March 2013. I studied computer science in the University of Costa Rica and I work full time as a software engineer. I like to play chess since I was a child, but I'm currently retired because of lack of time. I also used to play the french horn for many years, but I'm also retired because of lack of time :(

One of my big hobbies is penpalling and I have penpals from many countries around the world (yes, I write letters and send them via snail mail!). I've had the opportunity to meet several of my pen friends in person and it has been really nice. I consider them to be real friends, because I get to really know them after exchanging letters for so long.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a true believer that every action we make will sooner or later have a reaction. People who do good, will experience good things in life and people who do bad things, will eventually pay the bill.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Being foreigners in Costa Rica, we have a long tradition of hosting visitors. My family has hosted many times since we came to live to Costa Rica: family, friends but also exchange students and random people which has crossed into our path.

My husband and I built a house in 2013. We aren't officially hosting right now because, even though we have a lot of space, we don't have extra beds to be used. We are just the two of us for the moment (no kids), so we have a big empty house, not many furniture or appliances at the moment :)

Even though we are not officially hosting, we are still open to meet people and love traveling around the country. If you think we are a match, feel free to send me a message and we can work something out. We do have an air mattress and, as I said, lots of space.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only officially hosted through CouchSurfing once and it was a nice experience. But, as I mentioned before, we are used to receiving visitors into our house.

Interests

My big passion is to travel and my biggest dream is to travel all around the world one day. I think that every place has something different that makes it special and I like to discover that uniqueness. I try to travel abroad at least twice a year, but I also enjoy exploring what Costa Rica has to offer. That is why I like the idea of CS, it is a nice way of helping people to fulfill their dreams.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of Japanese culture and that is clearly reflected in the movies I watch and the books I read. I love Japanese animation, anime and manga. I have seen many series and I currently follow many others (you name it!).

I rarely watch normal TV, but I do like a couple of shows, if you have any recommendations of good shows or books, let me know! I have also involved myself recently into Korean dramas, which I enjoy.

I love to go to the movies and I almost never watch a movie twice. I like almost all genres, but terror (they rarely scare me and seem silly to me). I also like to go to the movies when I'm aboard.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to think that CS is not just about hosting, I would love to be able to meet people from other places if only for a day. Sometimes you only need someone to show you around and that simple (or huge) gesture can make a big difference in your trip. I love to discover a place with a local, as you can visit places and do things that you wouldn't otherwise.
